Tampa Bay Lightning left wing Brandon Hagel has committed himself long-term to the team, signing an eight-year extension. The contract is worth $52 million, giving Hagel a $6.5 million cap hit starting 2024-25. The 24-year-old is getting a massive pay rise, as his current deal only has a $1.5 million average annual value. The team has rewarded Hagel for a big year. During his first full season in Tampa Bay, Hagel tallied 30 goals and had a career-high 64 points in 81 appearances, while boasting a team-best plus-23 rating. Following Alex Killorn's move to Anaheim, Hagel could have an even bigger role to play for the Lightning.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller
