Brandin Cooks 2019 Player Outlook: High-Upside Wide Receiver in Rams Juggernaut System
5 years agoThe hype seems to be surrounding Robert Woods in this Rams offense, and rightfully so. He’s certainly set up to succeed in a huge way and Goff obviously loves targeting him. With that said, defenses have a lot to worry about in this offense with Kupp, Cooks, and Woods all healthy on the outside. Depending on the defensive personnel, every team in the league is going to struggle with these three options, one way or another. Teams that struggle with speed will have a hard time with Cooks, who is used perfectly by McVay. This offense sets Cooks up to run a ton of crossing routes and it gives him the separation to take advantage of his speed. Cooks has always been an inconsistent player, and that likely won’t change in 2019. There are a lot of mouths to feed on this offense and Cooks won’t be able to eat every week. Still, he’s a middle of the road WR2 with a ton of upside every single week. I’m comfortable drafting him at any point in the fifth round.
