Braelon Allen Carving Out Short-Yardage Role
Braelon Allen ran well in Week 3's 29-27 loss to the hosting Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but fell victim to a negative game script and failed to gain traction. Allen led starting rusher Breece Hall on Sunday with 30 yards on six carries (9/21), but both trailed quarterback Tyrod Taylor (8/48). The 21-year-old also pulled in both of his targets for 17 more yards, marking his highest usage this season. It mainly was for not, though, as New York was further behind in this one than the box score would suggest. While Allen doesn't quite yet present with standalone value - primarily due to his offensive environment - he appears to be New York's preferred short-yardage option. He boasts two more red zone carries (four) than backfield mate Breece Hall and the lone touchdown between them. The Wisconsin product remains a high-end handcuff.
