2 months agoThe Toronto Blue Jays have made competitive offers to starting pitcher Hyun-Jin Ryu and first baseman/designated hitter Edwin Encarnacion. The Jays are still looking to upgrade their rotation after adding Tanner Roark. Ryu has been flying under the radar despite going 14-5 with a 2.32 ERA, 1.01 WHIP and 163 strikeouts in 182 2/3 innings (29 starts) for the Dodgers last year. He'd likely become Toronto's ace if they landed him, and he's the best left-hander available after Dallas Keuchel signed with the White Sox Saturday night. A move to the American League, the tough AL East and a hitter-friendly park wouldn't be ideal for the Japanese southpaw, though. Encarnacion has history with Toronto in the past and would be a solid power-hitting option at DH. However, he'll turn 37 next month and is becoming more of an injury risk.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
