Toronto Maple Leafs center Auston Matthews eased his way to three points in Game 1 against Tampa Bay on Monday, scoring twice and recording an assist in a 5-0 win. He became the first reigning winner of the Maurice "Rocket" Richard Trophy in 15 years to score multiple times in his team's playoff opener. Matthews notched his first one on the power play to make it 2-0 and finished off the demolition job 8:16 into the third period. Having scored just once in seven playoff outings a year ago, Matthews badly needed to make a good start to the 2022 postseason and he managed to do it in impressive fashion. Mitchell Marner, who also struggled last year, started off with a three-point effort as well, ending an 18-game postseason goal drought and delivering two assists.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller
