Austin Ekeler Has A Big Quarter
6 years agoLos Angeles Chargers backup running back Austin Ekeler wasn't able to get in the end zone in the team's first preseason game, but he had a big second quarter that helped remind everyone why he generated so much excitement late last season. Ekeler broke off a 20-yard run and snagged a pass for another 39-yard gain in one drive to help give the team a chance for a field goal that was eventually missed. Ekeler turned some heads last season as a change-of-pace back for Melvin Gordon. While Gordon amassed an impressive 1,105 yards, Ekeler had a much better YPC over the course of his 47 carries. Ekeler is pretty established as the team's second-stringer, but he looks like he could be the guy if Gordon suffers an injury.
