Aristides Aquino Won't Join Big League Camp
4 years agoCincinnati Reds outfielder Aristides Aquino, who hit 19 home runs in 225 plate appearances with a 122 OPS+ last year, didn't make the cut for the big league camp in Cincinnati for spring training 2.0. Aquino will instead report to the team's satellite camp. He burst onto the scene out of nowhere in 2019, but he also was 2-for-26 with 11 strikeouts when spring training was shut down earlier this year. The 26-year-old has a high ceiling because of his power stroke, but consistency could be an issue, and the Reds have a glut of outfielders on the roster. Aquino could use some more development, but there's still a decent chance he could contribute this year if injuries open up some playing time.
