Anthony Rizzo Could Miss 4-6 Weeks With Fractured Arm
6 months agoNew York Yankees first baseman Anthony Rizzo (arm) suffered a fracture to the radial neck of his right arm on Sunday against the division-rival Boston Red Sox but will not need surgery, according to a person with knowledge of the injury. Still, Rizzo could miss anywhere from four to six weeks. It's unclear what the Yankees will do with Rizzo on the shelf, but it seems likely that they will move third baseman DJ LeMahieu to first base and give utility man Oswaldo Cabrera most of the playing time at third base. The injury occurred when Rizzo collided with Boston reliever Brennan Berardino while running down the line to beat out a ground ball. The 34-year-old three-time All-Star has mostly struggled at the plate this year for the Bombers, hitting only .223 (59-for-264) with eight homers and 28 RBI. Cabrera will be a popular waiver-wire pickup in deeper fantasy leagues.
