Anthony Rendon 2019 Outlook: Consistent When Healthy
6 years agoOne of the most underrated third basemen in the league put together another solid performance in 2018 that probably went unnoticed unless you are a Washington Nationals fan or a fantasy owner of Anthony Rendon. Maybe the departure of Bryce Harper will help to establish Rendon as the new face of the Nationals, offering him more attention, but I would prefer he stays under the radar as an awesome draft day stash for fantasy owners. Rendon came into the 2018 season with an ADP of 47 and delivered on that value, posting a career-high .308 batting average and 44 doubles. A healthy Rendon is almost a lock every season for 35 or more doubles, 20 or more home runs, a low strikeout rate and a batting average around the .300 mark. The most important part of that sentence is “when healthy” because Rendon seems to have trouble with that. Rendon has only played in 150 or more games twice in his career, a mark he hasn’t reached since 2016. If you draft Rendon in the 40 to 60 range in 2019, you will be more than happy with the return on value. Just make sure you have another reliable third baseman on your roster to step in for Rendon when he inevitably misses some time.
