Anthony Miller 2019 Outlook: Touchdowns Will Determine Value
6 years agoChicago Bears wide receiver Anthony Miller enjoyed a solid, yet incomplete, rookie season with 33 receptions for 423 yards and seven touchdowns. It was a mixed bag at times for Miller but that can be expected for a rookie wide receiver. In many ways it was a tale of two halves, catching only 14 passes for 161 yards with three touchdowns in his first eight games while struggling to find chemistry with quarterback Mitch Trubisky. The second half of the season proved to be far more fruitful. Miller totaled 19 receptions for 262 yards with four touchdowns in his final five games. Miller really showed a nose for the end zone but his progress mid-season was stifled by a separated shoulder that he re-injured several times during the season. Miller underwent offseason shoulder surgery and is expected to be full-go by the time preseason begins. The second-year receiver has plenty of talent, grit and could easily take a leap forward this season. But fantasy owners need to be cognizant that the Bears offense relies on variety and does not necessarily feature the wide receiving position in the passing game. Miller will struggle to rise above being a WR3 in 2019 and will be a touchdown-dependent fantasy option. As of now, expect Miller to hit the waiver wire heading into 2019 with the potential of becoming a matchup-based FLEX starter by season's end.
