7/7:New York Mets starting pitcher Jacob deGrom once again had a lights-out performance but failed to pick up the victory due to the Mets complete inability to score. deGrom was at it again on Friday against the Tampa Bay Rays, dominating them to the tune of one earned run on four hits and a walk with eight strikeouts across eight innings pitched. It was a no-decision for deGrom in this one before Jose Bautista hit a walk-off grand slam in the bottom of the ninth to give the win to reliever Jeurys Familia. deGrom’s ERA is now down to an absurd 1.79 with a 0.99 WHIP. He is the definition of an ace.--John Smith
