Carolina Hurricanes right wing Andrei Svechnikov (knee) is expected to be ready for the start of the 2023-24 NHL campaign. The 23-year-old had knee surgery in March and was given a six-month timeline for recovery. According to Hurricanes general manager Don Waddell, Svechnikov has been recovering well and might even be ahead of schedule. "He wants to be playing today, but we'll be cautious, obviously," Waddell added. "October is important, but as the season goes on, it becomes even more important. I fully expect him to be ready when the season starts." Before sustaining an ACL tear in his right knee, Svechnikov put up 55 points (23 goals, 32 assists) in 64 games with the Hurricanes last season. Five years into his NHL career, the Russia native already boasts over 100 goals and has bagged 264 points in 347 outings with 973 shots on goal and 682 hits.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller
