Former UFC middleweight champion Alex Pereira scored a split-decision win over Jan Blachowicz in his light-heavyweight debut in the UFC 291 co-main event on Saturday. Pereira survived a scare with Blachowicz being stuck on his back following a takedown early in the fight, but he was able to get back on his feet in the second round. It was a close fight throughout all 15 minutes, but in the end, two judges scored the fight 29-28 for Pereira, with the third judge giving the same 29-28 score to Blachowicz. In 15 minutes of action, Pereira landed 70 significant strikes. With this win, Pereira has most likely earned himself a shot at a light-heavyweight belt.--Alen Kurbasic - RotoBaller
