Alex Colome Should Maintain Value
7 years agoTampa Bay Rays closer Alex Colome is coming off a 2017 season where he led the majors in saves with 47. It was not just a one-year fluke that he was an elite closer, as he has 84 saves over the past two seasons. While he is a safe source of saves at the moment, he has also been mentioned in trade talks so the very small possibility of Colome moving teams where he becomes a roving shutdown reliever like Andrew Miller exists. The biggest performance-based red flag is that while he increased his saves in 2017, his ERA jumped from 2016's 1.91 to 3.24 in 2017. He remains an elite closer option who should be drafted among the top-10 of the position as long as he is a closer.
