Alcides Escobar Gains Third Base Eligibility
6 years agoKansas City Royals shortstop Alcides Escobar started at third base for the fifth time this season on Sunday, earning him additional position eligibility for any poor fantasy owners that are stuck owning him. That was the good news on Sunday. The bad news was that by going 0-fer once again, Escobar's batting average dipped below the Mendoza line. Don't think his terrible offensive ability and middlign defensive skills will cost him any playing time though, as he's only missed one start since the All-Star break even though he's hitting just .172 during that span. Escobar should only be rostered by fantasy owners that lost a bet, but at least now he can be an offensive sinkhole at 3B too.
