Albert Wilson 2019 Player Outlook: Most Talented WR on a Bad Team
6 years agoIf you're a #1 WR, but no one is there to throw you the ball, do you make an impact in fantasy? This is one of a number of questions concerning Albert Wilson in 2019. The Dolphins are going to be bad and that may lead to Josh Rosen starting, which is probably worse for fantasy than Ryan Fitzpatrick. Wilson was on his way to a career year in 2018 before a hip injury ended his season prematurely. Now entering his sixth NFL season, the odds are significantly against him ever amounting into anything fantasy relevant. However, there may be extenuating circumstances favoring Wilson. The entire Dolphins receiving corps is made up of guys that have failed to launch (or rookies). Kenny Stills is what he is at this point - a complementary piece, and Devante Parker is terrible at football. If Wilson can stay on the field, he has a great shot to lead the Dolphins in targets. Being on the Dolphins caps his ceiling, but the target leader on any offense should be at least a WR3 in fantasy. Wilson's ADP is starting rise, but he is still a great late-round flier with relatively little attachment at his current cost. His injury issue is lingering which mean we will likely not see him on the field in the preseason. There is also the fact that WRs seeing solid targets year over year rarely breakout after their third season. There are certainly worse players to take a shot on for the cost of free.
