Albert Okwuegbunam 2023 NFL Player Outlook: New Eagles TE Could Backup Goedert
2 years agoDenver Broncos tight end Albert Okwuegbunam was a prime breakout candidate in 2022. Pro Bowl quarterback Russell Wilson joined the team in the offseason, and Okwuegbunam received high praise from coaches during training camp. He was a late-round tight end flier in fantasy drafts in 2022 because of his high upside in Denver's offense. But the tight end failed to make an impact. He had just 10 catches for 95 yards and one touchdown in eight games and was a healthy scratch in a handful of contests. With new head coach Sean Payton taking over in Denver, the young tight end was a cut candidate heading into the season. But the Philadelphia Eagles stepped in and traded a sixth round pick for Okwuegbunam. The 25-year-old was expected to find himself as the TE3 with the Broncos behind Greg Dulcich and Adam Trautman in 2023. In Philadelphia, though, Okwuegbunam should in the mix to earn the backup job to tight end Dallas Goedert. He'll fight with Jack Stoll for the TE2 role with the Eagles. Okwuegbunam should only be drafted in deep tight end premium leagues and is worth hanging onto in deep dynasty formats.
