Adolis Garcia Getting A Breather On Tuesday
6 months agoTexas Rangers outfielder Adolis Garcia will start on the bench on Tuesday against the visiting New York Mets. This will be Garcia's first day off since April 27. Garcia hasn't been quite as good as he was as a second-time All-Star in 2023, but he still has 13 home runs, 40 RBI and six stolen bases in 285 plate appearances and 69 games in 2024. He's hitting just .213 (55-for-258) and has been even worse in the month of June in 15 games, going 8-for-55 (.146) with a homer, a double, three RBI, four walks and 16 strikeouts in 60 plate appearances. Garcia could probably use the day off to get his mind right for the final stretch before the All-Star break in the middle of next month. Travis Jankowski is starting in right field for the Rangers and will hit sixth against Mets right-hander Luis Severino. He has never faced Severino in his career.
