Addison Barger Back With Blue Jays
5 months agoThe Toronto Blue Jays recalled outfield prospect Addison Barger from Triple-A Buffalo on Saturday and placed shortstop Bo Bichette (calf) on the 10-day injured list in a corresponding move with a calf strain. Barger, 24, is ranked by MLB Pipeline as the team's No. 6 prospect. He didn't fare well in his first 20 major-league contests earlier this year with Toronto, going 9-for-60 (.150) with two doubles, four RBI, two walks and 18 strikeouts in 63 plate appearances, but he could get more run this time around with Bichette back on the shelf. No. 5 prospect, Leo Jimenez, figures to see most of the work at the 6 in Bichette's stead, but Barger has the ability to play both the infield and outfield. The left-handed hitter has hit .260 (53-for-204) with nine homers, 38 RBI and four steals in 57 games for the Bisons this year
