A.J. Allmendinger Will Start 11th At Sonoma
6 months agoIn this week's Toyota/Save Mart 350 at Sonoma Raceway, A.J. Allmendinger will start from the 11th position. This marks Allmendinger's third start of the year inside the top 15 and his second start outside of the top 10 at the site since 2022. In 12 Cup starts at Sonoma, Allmendinger has five top-15 finishes, including last year's race, where he scored a career-best finish of sixth. In four starts completed with Kaulig Racing on a part-time schedule this season, Allmendinger has three finishes of 13th or better, including two top-10 finishes. In practice, Allmendinger's overall lap average ranked 22nd while ranking 16th in single-lap times. Allmendinger runs best at road courses as the all-time leader in road-course wins in the Xfinity Series (11), but in the Cup Series at Sonoma, he has displayed mixed results in his career. Allmendinger is a decent choice to utilize overall this week in DFS based on past performance at road courses. His salary being higher than average makes it difficult to recommend him over other drivers with more cap flexibility, though.
