6 days agoThe more we see and get to know Sahith Theegala, the easier it is to pull for him. He was a consistent name in 2024, albeit wildly drastic from week to week. However, his recent third-place finish to close out the season at the Tour Championship showed us his moxie and true character, making him a worthy addition to the U.S. team at Royal Montreal in two weeks. Given the rollercoaster that can be his golf game, he seems better suited to help the cause more in the foursome format than alternate shot, so it will be interesting to see how he is used by Captain, Jim Furyk. Nonetheless, his animated approach to the game will help give the American squad a needed jolt of energy, and a strong performance could pave the way for even bigger things in 2025 for the young star. 6 days agoTony Finau finished T23 in the final 2024 FedEx Cup standings after a somewhat lackluster end to the season. Despite heading into the FedEx Cup playoffs with three top-10 finishes, he couldn't maintain that form. Nevertheless, Finau had a great season with a total of five top-10 finishes. He will now bring his wealth of experience to Team USA at the Presidents Cup, having previously played in 2019 and 2022, as well as being included on the Ryder Cup teams for 2018 and 2021. While Finau's finish to the season was not as strong as he had hoped, his experience in team events might make him a valuable addition to DFS lineups.Source: Data Golf
6 days agoSam Burns has secured a spot on Team USA for the upcoming Presidents Cup as a captain's pick. Burns had a strong start to the 2024 season but faced challenges maintaining that level of play during the middle of the season. Nonetheless, he finished the season strongly with two top-five finishes in his last three tournaments and tied for 12th in the final FedEx Cup standings. While Burns' experience from the 2023 Ryder Cup is valuable for the team event, it's important to note that there is some risk involved in including him in DFS lineups.Source: Data Golf
6 days agoPatrick Cantlay finished the 2024 season strongly, securing his spot on the Team USA roster for the upcoming Presidents Cup at The Royal Montreal Golf Club in two weeks. Cantlay has achieved five top-20 finishes in his last six tournaments, including two top-five finishes. Having been a key member of past Ryder Cup teams, he brings invaluable experience to Team USA. Given Cantlay's strong finish to the 2024 season, he is worth considering for DFS lineups.Source: Data Golf
6 days agoWyndham Clark's performance in the 2024 season has been inconsistent, but he displayed his best form during the FedEx Cup playoffs. He secured a tie for seventh at the FedEx St. Jude Championship, 13th at the BMW Championship, and finished the season in eighth place in the FedEx Cup standings. It's worth noting that Clark missed the cut in three out of four major championships this year, but he has demonstrated his potential to contribute to Team USA at the Presidents Cup. Including Clark in DFS lineups could pay, although it also carries some risk.Source: Data Golf
6 days agoScottie Scheffler concluded the 2024 season as the FedEx Cup Champion. He is now gearing up for the Presidents Cup at The Royal Montreal Golf Club in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Scheffler performed remarkably throughout the season, securing nine victories, including a gold medal at the Olympics. Additionally, he achieved 11 top-10 finishes. As a key player for Team USA, Scheffler is expected to lead the team and will be a valuable addition to DFS lineups.Source: Data Golf
6 days agoKeegan Bradley will lead Team USA at the Presidents Cup in two weeks as they take on the International Team at The Royal Montreal Golf Club in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Bradley finished the season playing quality golf, which saw him win the BMW Championship and end the season T21 in the final FedEx Cup standings. After being left off the previous Ryder Cup team, Bradley now has the opportunity to showcase his leadership. Despite being overlooked, he could be a solid addition to DFS lineups.Source: Data Golf
6 days agoPerhaps the most successful season without a win is the easiest way to sum up the 2024 season for Collin Morikawa. The 27-year-old compiled two runner-up finishes, eight top 10s, and 16 top 25s over his 21 starts. His final-round performance ultimately kept him out of the winner's circle, ranking 107th in round four scoring average (70.47) for the season. It's a frustrating part of the game, but one that tells us he isn't far off from getting back to the dominant player from just a couple of years ago. He heads to the Royal Montreal Golf Club for the President's Cup in two weeks to help the U.S. Team continue its dominance over the International squad, boasting a 6-4-1 record in three previous team appearances. He isn't nearly the most dominant force on the American squad, but Captain Jim Furyk will certainly rely on the veteran's strong play in 2024 and needed experience to help settle in the new faces in this year's group.Source: PGA Tour
6 days agoFor most avid golf fans, we knew it was only a matter of getting a big win under the belt for Xander Schauffele to transform into the dominant force he was this season. After winning the PGA Championship in thrilling fashion and finally getting that monkey off his back, the 30-year-old didn't wait long for his second major victory by shooting a final-round, 65 to win the Claret Jug. It was undoubtedly the best season of his career, with two wins, three runner-up finishes, 15 top 10's, and 20 top 25's. Boasting a 10-5-0 record in four previous team competitions, Schauffele is certainly one of the leaders for the U.S. squad at the upcoming President's Cup. His calm demeanor and world-class skillset make him an easy pair with any of the new faces making their first start in team competition. Look for him to do big things at Royal Montreal, and in 2025, as well.Source: PGA Tour
6 days agoIt was a season to mostly forget for Max Homa. He had a run of good finishes early that peaked with a T3 The Masters, but things turned sour for the 33-year-old soon after as he only had two other finishes inside the top 25 the rest of the season. Perhaps the most puzzling issue is that his poor play can't be attributed to one or two areas, as he ranked outside the top 100 in strokes gained putting (-0.080) and off the tee (-0.447). Lucky for him, nothing gets a player fired up to find his game more than team competition, and, after getting the pick from U.S. Presidents Cup Captain, Jim Furyk, Homa will undoubtedly represent the heart and soul of the American squad given his 5-1-1 record over his two previous appearances in both the Presidents and Ryder Cups. It's the perfect opportunity to gain some much-needed confidence to close out 2024.Source: PGA Tour
1 month agoViktor Hovland has been a relatively disappointing option for fantasy managers this year, but everyone should take note of his T2 finish at the FedEx St. Jude Championship last week. The 26-year-old Norwegian sensation gained strokes off-the-tee for the ninth consecutive start dating back to May, while also gaining 3.3 strokes with the flat stick. He's known for being a "feel" player, and that "feel" appeared to be elite last week as he approaches his BMW Championship title defense. The current OWGR No. 8 profiles as a solid course fit for Castle Pines Golf Club, as he ranks second in weighted strokes gained off-the-tee, 15th in weighted approach play, sixth in birdie-or-better percentage, and 11th in par 5 scoring over the last 24 rounds. Hovland could be catching fire at the right time, and fantasy managers could be in line to capitalize on his $10,400 DraftKings salary at this year's iteration of the BMW Championship.Source: PGA Tour
1 month agoCameron Young has been considered a rising star since joining the Tour in 2022, and while he's had his share of ups and downs this season, his form over the last few weeks has given fantasy managers a glimmer of hope. The 27-year-old Wake Forest alum posted back-to-back top-10 finishes in late June, before finishing outside of the top-20 in his three subsequent events, most recently with a T61 at last week's FedEx St. Jude Championship. But Young should be a solid course fit for Castle Pines Golf Club, as he ranks third in driving distance, 27th in weighted approach play, 13th weighted around-the-green, seventh in opportunities gained, and 11th in birdie-or-better percentage over the last 24 rounds. Young could be a sneaky, low-owned option with upside at his $8,500 DraftKings salary this week, and fantasy managers should be open to considering investing in him at the BMW Championship.Source: PGA Tour
1 month agoChristiaan Bezuidenhout has been a model of consistency for fantasy managers over the past several months. The 30-year-old South African has finished inside of the top-25 in seven of his last 11 events dating back to May, with his last three results being a T16 at the Olympics and back-to-back T22 finishes at the Wyndham Championship and FedEx St. Jude Championship. But the OWGR No. 45 has only one top-10 finish during that span, and it's worth noting that he's yet to win a PGA Tour event his four years since joining. He does not appear to be a solid course fit ahead of the BMW Championship, as he ranks in the bottom half of the field in driving distance, weighted approach play, opportunities gained, birdie-or-better percentage, and par 5 scoring. Fantasy managers considering Bezuidenhout this week may be wise to consider the route of limited ownership, if any at all, this week at Castle Rock. Source: PGA Tour
1 month agoAlex Noren has been a model of inconsistency this summer, and fantasy managers will likely have a tough time evaluating his potential at Castle Pines Golf Club this week. The 42-year-old Swede does have three top-25 finishes in eight appearances dating back to June, but he also has three missed cuts and other middling finishes, most recently including a T45 at the Olympics and a T30 at the FedEx St. Jude Championship. He does not appear to be a solid course fit ahead of the BMW Championship, as he ranks in the bottom half of the field in driving distance and accuracy, weighted approach play and putting, par 5 scoring, opportunities gained and bogey avoidance over the last 24 rounds. Noren offers some upside for fantasy managers with his $7,500 DraftKings salary this week, but he will be tough to trust based on recent form and overall course fit.Source: PGA Tour
1 month agoSungjae Im paid off big time for fantasy managers investing in him between May and July. The 26-year-old South Korean star posted seven finishes inside of the top 12 in his nine appearances during that span, impressively gaining strokes off the tee and on the greens in eight of those starts as well. His last two tournaments haven't been as fruitful, though, as he posted a T41 at the Wyndham Championship and finished T40 in the 70-man field at the FedEx St. Jude Championship last week. Im should be in line to bounce back at Castle Pines Golf Club this week, as he ranks 18th in weighted approach play, 12th in weighted around-the-green, second in weighted putting, and 11th in bogey avoidance over the last 24 rounds. Fantasy managers should capitalize on his top-10 upside at a mere $9,000 DraftKings salary this week.Source: PGA Tour
