Christopher Bell Has Disappointing Day At Watkins Glen
3 weeks agoThe Go Bowling at The Glen started off a bit rough for Christopher Bell this past weekend, as he was involved in a first-lap wreck that sent the No. 20 Toyota spinning along with several other cars. Thankfully, Bell didn't get much damage in the wreck, and he was able to salvage a 14th-place finish at the end of it. Still, it was a disappointing run for Bell, who had been one of the strongest drivers on road courses this season. However, looking at the overall picture, it was still a good day for the Joe Gibbs Racing driver, as he earned valuable points with his decent finish. Bell now has a 46-point cushion on the cut line heading into the final race of the first round of the playoffs at Bristol, meaning he will just need to avoid absolute catastrophe in that race in order to advance to the Round of 12. After the race on Sunday, Bell remarked, "That was disappointing, but ultimately if you had told me that I'm going to come out of here with gaining on the points of the cutoff line, I would have taken it. So it wasn't pretty how we got there, but we got there, and now we can go to Bristol and relax a little bit more."
