49ers GM Says Deebo Samuel Will Remain With Team
3 years agoSan Francisco 49ers general manager John Lynch was asked about wide receiver Deebo Samuel's status during Wednesday night's "Dwight Clark Legacy Series" event. Lynch replied, "We haven't traded him, and I'd be a fool to trade him, so yes, Deebo will be part of the 49ers this season." While this certainly doesn't guarantee anything and Samuel could still hold out, Lynch's public sentiment on the matter is a good sign for Samuel suiting up in red and gold in Week 1. The 26-year-old Samuel was a fantasy league-winner last year, finishing as the WR3 in PPR formats while being drafted on average as the WR36. He recorded 77 receptions on 121 targets for 1,405 receiving yards and six touchdowns, while remarkably adding 365 rushing yards and eight scores on the ground. However, he may be a regression candidate due to possible decreased backfield usage as well as a likely transition to quarterback Trey Lance.
