Brian Robinson, Jr. 2023 NFL Player Outook- Gunshot Victim Takes Aim At 1,000 Yards
1 year agoSecond-year running back for the Washington Commanders, Brian Robinson, Jr., is nothing short of a miracle story. Robinson was making waves in the offseason when he was shot in the leg and the hip at the end of August. It seemed that his rookie season was over before it even started, however, we learned that the Crimson Tide prospect is a warrior, and he returned to game action in Week 5, a mere 42 days after being shot twice. Understandably, he got off to a slow start and only averaged 3.2 yards per carry through his first seven games, but he found his stride over his final five games where he averaged 19.4 carries at 4.8 yards a clip (17-game pace of 1,583 yards). Robinson should maintain his heavy volume with quarterback Sam Howell at the helm because a developing quarterback's best friend is a strong running game. He takes a small hit in PPR because he does not catch many passes, but he should find pay-dirt at least 7-9 times as the unquestioned short-yardage and goal-line back for the Commanders. He is currently being drafted as the RB34 over the last month, in the same range as AJ Dillon, Samaje Perine, and Khalil Herbert, and I significantly prefer Robinson's volume over those players because his floor and his ceiling are much higher (assuming no one in front of them on the depth chart gets hurt). He is the ideal RB3 for your fantasy squad and he should be safely drafted around the seventh or eighth rounds in a 12-team league.
