MLB DFS Picks Today: Daily Fantasy Baseball Strategy and Tips For FanDuel, DraftKings (8/23/25)

Pete Alonso - Fantasy Baseball Rankings, Draft Sleepers, MLB Injury News

Koby's top DraftKings and FanDuel MLB DFS picks for today, Saturday, 8/23/25. His favorite daily fantasy baseball lineup sleepers and value picks for DFS on DraftKings and FanDuel.

Welcome Back, RotoBallers! After an eventful Friday that had us locked in for a 13-game slate, we step back a bit and get a slightly lighter slate as we only have nine games on tap for us. We have some elite pitchers on the slate, and what should be a massive pitching duel between Logan Webb and Freddy Peralta.

Other than a slight chance of rain in the Braves/Mets game, we should be all good to go regarding the weather. Make sure to stay up to date in the RotoBaller Discord channel, which is where we will be, helping you attempt to pad your bank account in advance of the football season (it's less than two weeks away!).

This article will provide my daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for DraftKings and FanDuel on 8/23/2025, with the slate starting at 7:05 PM EST. The lineup picks will showcase elite players, mid-priced options, and value plays. You can also read more DFS advice and lineup picks for other sports here. Monitoring injury news and today's MLB starting lineups is always essential.

DraftKings, FanDuel Pitchers - MLB DFS Lineup Picks

Freddy Peralta, SP - MIL ($10.2K DK/$10.2K FD)

Freddy Peralta has been nothing but elite this season, with seven starts of 39 fantasy points or more in his last nine starts on FanDuel. Especially at home, he has a 1.95 ERA compared to the 3.65 away this season. He has an elite 26.2% K% this season, which bodes well with the Giants' 26% K% this month.

The Giants this month have been about average with a 109 wRC+, but they do have a solid pitcher on the other side with Logan Webb. This will make it a bit more difficult for the Brewers to come out on top, but their 150 wRC+ this month gives them the edge here in the matchup.

Peralta has been solid in going at a minimum of five innings, but he should be good for six innings in this one. Getting the Quality Start will be big for Peralta at his price in making value.

Jeffrey Springs, SP - ATH ($7.8K DK/$8.6K FD)

I hate going against my boys in Seattle, but they have struggled too much against lefties this month, not to mention against Jeffrey Springs in this matchup. They are in a very pitcher-friendly park at T-Mobile Park. Springs has had success against the Mariners this season, striking them out 20 times across three starts and only allowing three runs in that time. That included two matchups in Sacramento as well.

The Mariners this month have an absurd 32.4% K% against LHP. And a wRC+ of only 85, which is well below average. I anticipate the Mariners bouncing back a bit in this series, but it probably won't come here against a lefty in Jeffrey Springs.

Springs, when he doesn't play at home, sees his ERA drop nearly 90 points as he drops to a 3.80 ERA in away games this season. Springs makes for an elite SP2 option with a great matchup ahead of him; he could be one of the highest scoring players on the slate tonight.

DraftKings, FanDuel Infielders - MLB DFS Lineup Picks

Pete Alonso, 1B - NYM ($5.5K DK/$3.4K FD)

Alonso finds himself in an elite spot, with Cal Quantrill on the mound. He has three hits in nine ABs against Quantrill, including a home run. Quantrill has been specifically bad against RHH this season. Quantrill has given up a SLG of .605 and a wOBA of .417 to RHH this season, which is crazy compared to his splits against lefties.

Alonso has been significantly better against RHP, where he has a wRC+ of 150, with a SLG of .534 and a wOBA of .381. Alonso going against Quantrill, who has some bad reverse splits, puts him in a smash spot. As long as this game doesn't get affected by the rain, then load up on Alonso.

Brooks Lee, SS(DK Only)/3B/2B (FD)- MIN ($3K DK/$2.7K FD)

Brooks Lee continues to be red hot, scoring nine-plus fantasy points in six straight games. He is coming off a game he scored three runs on two walks and a single. He is going against the righty Davis Martin. Martin has a wOBA of .324 and a SLG of .424 against lefties this season. A nearly 4 ERA to go with it as well.

Brooks Lee is still extremely cheap, and although his average has been lower against RHP, his power has been much better, with 10 of his 13 home runs coming against them this season. His price plus his positional eligibility on FanDuel makes for an elite spot, especially with the wins projected to be upwards of nearly 15 mph!

Jose Altuve, 2B(DK)/OF - HOU ($4.8K DK/$3.2K FD)

Jose Altuve has done extremely well against RHP this season. He is getting a pitcher he has had a lot of experience against with 17 ABs; he has eight hits, including one home run. That is pretty good splits against him. He has a .341 wOBA and a .455 SLG against RHP this season.

Kremer has looked like a solid pitcher as of late, but the Orioles are falling apart, and Camden is a good hitters' park. The Astros did extremely well in last night's game, scoring 10 runs. Altuve is still fairly priced, and I'll be looking to add him as a one-off, given how well he has performed against Kremer in the past.

DraftKings, FanDuel Outfielders - MLB DFS Lineup Picks

Teoscar Hernandez, OF - LAD ($4.7K DK/$3.3K FD)

Good Luck affording Shohei Ohtani! Teoscar has been great against lefties this season, though. He has an average that is 80 points higher than against RHP at .317! With a wOBA of .410 and a SLG of .622 against LHP. Hernandez finds himself in an elite spot against a bad pitcher in Nestor Cortes.

Hernandez is still very affordable at only 3.3K on FD and 4.7K on DK. Hernandez is sporting a 45.5% HardHit% and a 12.8% Barrel% this season. August has been a good month for Teo as he has five home runs so far this month, and we could see number six against Cortes, who has been extremely home run prone in his minimal starts to the season. Cortes has given up a SLG of .500 to RHH this season. The Dodgers find themselves in a good spot, take advantage of it!

Julio Rodriguez, OF - SEA ($5.7K DK/$3.4K FD)

I know, I wrote up Jeffrey Springs as a great pitcher, and I still do think he is! But I can't ignore how well Rodriguez has performed against Springs in the past, with two home runs and two singles in 12 ABs. August has been an extremely good month for Julio, who has a wOBA of .429 and SLG of .667 with six home runs.

I think Seattle will go overlooked with how bad they have performed, and I do agree on the Springs front for sure. But we have also seen how hot Julio can get in the month of August, and so far, that has happened. Obviously, don't stack against Springs, but if you go a different pitching route. Then, Rodriguez makes a compelling argument to make it in your lineups.

Ian Happ, OF - CHC ($3.5K DK/$2.8K FD)

I thought about going with Pete Crow-Armstrong, but I wanted to get a little bit of value in this article! He has been much better against RHP than LHP this season. He has hit 13 of his 16 home runs off of RHP. He is sporting a .324 wOBA and a .408 SLG against RHP. Mederos has been hurt by lefties this season in his minimal starts so far.

I love the value we get on Happ here, and if we can get some favorable winds. We could see Happ hitting his 17th homer of the season with how hot it is in LA right now. The Cubs have the highest IRT on the slate with a 5.3. I believe Happ will be a big part of that.

Others To Consider (CASH/GPP):

DraftKings, FanDuel MLB DFS Stacks

1. New York Mets (Implied Run Total - 5.1) vs Cal Quantrill

As long as the rain doesn't get in the way, this is a home run spot for the Mets. They get to go up against the wildly inconsistent Cal Quantrill, who joined the Braves just a few days ago. The Mets have been the second-best team in the league this month against RHP with a wRC+ of 137. Quantrill has some insane reverse splits, too, so the righties should have a field day against him.

Favorite Combo: Alonso, Vientos, Lindor, Soto

2. Chicago Cubs (Implied Run Total - 5.3) vs Victor Mederos

Mederos will be making his fourth start this season, and he has given up eight runs in his first three. He has been bad about giving up walks and has a WHIP of 1.85 this season. The Cubs have been rough this month, sporting only a wRC+ of 68, but they're getting an elite matchup in L.A., where it should be hot. So far, the lefties have done the most damage to Mederos, and the lefties in the lineup from Chicago should be able to do well here.

Favorite Combo: Busch, Crow-Armstrong, Happ, Suzuki

3. Los Angeles Dodgers (Implied Run Total - 4.4) vs Nestor Cortes

This has been a terrible season for Nestor Cortes, and now he goes up against an elite team in the Dodgers, who should be able to exploit him. He has an absurd 12% Barrel%, and has been tormented from both sides of the plate. Even the left-on-left matchup has been hit hard. Even since ending up with the Padres, he has given up seven runs in three starts. They will be expensive, but I recommend a small stack from the Dodgers, focusing more on the two above.
