MLB DFS: DraftKings, FanDuel Daily Fantasy Baseball Picks (7/8/24) - Today's Top Lineups

Byron Buxton - Fantasy Baseball Rankings, Draft Sleepers, MLB Injury News

The top MLB DFS daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for FanDuel, DraftKings on July 8, 2024. Mike Marteny's MLB DFS sleepers picks for building optimal DFS rosters.

This is my last pinch-hit performance for a while. I will still be around on Saturdays, but the last weekday performance for a while gives us a five-game main slate on both sites. We can do a lot with five games, especially considering our interesting pitching options for tonight.

This article will provide my daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for DraftKings and FanDuel on Monday, July 8, 2024, with the slate starting at 6:40 p.m. EDT. The lineup picks will range from some elite players to mid-priced options and value plays.

You can also read more DFS advice and lineup picks for other sports here. Monitoring injury news and today's MLB starting lineups is also essential. Good luck, RotoBallers!

DraftKings, FanDuel Pitchers - MLB DFS Lineup Picks

Chris Sale at ARI ($10.5K DraftKings; $11.5K FanDuel)

The above stat is a reason to jump off of Chris Sale in GPPs tonight. The strikeouts will be there as they have all season -- Arizona has a bloated 26% strikeout rate against lefties this year. The disturbing trend is Arizona's offense taking off in the last couple of weeks, particularly against left-handed pitching. Sale isn't your typical lefty. He's still one of the best, but that's a reason to jump off a high-rostered play in large-field GPPs.

Sale hasn't been under 25 DraftKings points in his last five starts, though. That includes matchups against the surging Yankees and lefty-mashing Giants. I wouldn't come off of Sale in cash lineups, particularly on FanDuel.

Andrew Abbott vs. COL ($8.2K DraftKings; $9.5K FanDuel)

The Rockies have struck out at a 29.7% clip against lefties in the last month. Despite a horrible home park for pitchers, Abbott has a 3.32 ERA in seven home starts. Road Rockies are not good Rockies. Colorado is hitting 40 points lower on the road with a precipitous 78-point drop in SLG. I'm not saying that Abbott will outscore Sale, but he has a chance to get close in this matchup.

Jon Gray at LAA ($7K DraftKings; $7.3K FanDuel)

Many are going to bail on Gray after his horrendous second half of June. He gave up eight runs to the Mets and nine to the Orioles in the span of three starts. The good news is the six shutout innings against the Royals in the middle of those starts. The good news is that Baltimore and the Mets have been two of the best offenses in baseball over the last month...maybe those starts can be excused. The bad news is the abnormally low strikeout totals for Gray. He has just 22 punchouts in his last eight starts (34 2/3 innings).

The Angels are in the middle of the pack in everything against right-handed pitching over the last month. This is a decent matchup for Gray, but the ceiling isn't that high right now. Gray did have at least seven strikeouts in five of his first nine starts this season. That at least earns Gray a shot as your SP2 on DraftKings.

Also consider: Davis Daniel vs. TEX; Chris Paddack at CWS

DraftKings, FanDuel Infielders - MLB DFS Lineup Picks

Josh Naylor – 1B, CLE vs. Keider Montero ($5.6K DK; $3.5K FD)

We don't have a lot of pitch data to go on with Montero only logging 261 pitches so far this year. However, 206 of those pitches have been either four-seam fastballs or sliders. Naylor crushes both. He has a .564 SLG against four-seamers and a .660 SLG against sliders.

Jose Miranda – 3B, MIN vs. Chris Flexen ($4.7K DK; $3.4K FD)

I'm not going to try to normalize paying this much for Miranda, but let's take the name out of it for a minute. Miranda...er...this player is hitting .559 with a homer, a steal, 10 runs scored, and 10 RBI over the last ten games. There may not be a hotter hitter in baseball right now. During this stretch, Miranda tied a MLB record by recording a hit in 12 consecutive at-bats. Maybe his price isn't so high after all...

Colt Keith – 2B, DET vs. Gavin Williams ($3.1K DK; $2.9K FD)

Williams got rocked by the White Sox in his first 2024 start last week. That's not a good sign. Williams will eventually be fine, but this is the time to go after him. Keith is riding a modest five-game hitting streak, but he has nine hits in those five games. Three of them are homers. The rookie is seeing the ball well right now and Williams isn't at his best. It's time to pounce at this price.

Also consider: Elly De La Cruz, Spencer Steer, Brooks Lee

DraftKings, FanDuel Outfielders - MLB DFS Lineup Picks

Luis Robert Jr. – OF, CWS vs. Chris Paddack ($5.1K DK; $3.8K FD)

Robert is hitting like he wants out of Chicago by the end of the month. Three of his 10 homers on the season have come in the last 10 days, along with eight of his 19 RBI. He is slowly dragging that average back up with hits in 14 of the last 16 games. A meeting with a fresh-off-the-IL Chris Paddack won't hurt his quest any.

Byron Buxton – OF, MIN vs. Chris Flexen ($4.6K DK; $3.2K FD)

Buxton is finally healthy this year, and we are starting to see why he has been so hyped up over the last eight years or so. Buxton is having a strong year, but he has been on an absolute tear lately. He is hitting .432 with four homers, 12 RBI, 13 runs scored, and a steal over the last 10 games. Oh, and he is also 7-for-9 in his career against Flexen with three doubles and two homers. Buxton is my first offensive click tonight.

Wyatt Langford – OF, TEX vs. Davis Daniel ($3.9K DK; $2.9K FD)

The rookie has been cooking lately. Langford has at least one hit in six of the last seven games. Two of those games were four-hit efforts. His average is sitting at a cool .389 over the last 10 days with a homer, six RBI, six runs scored, and a steal. The Texas offense is starting to come around. They scored 20 runs in a three-game weekender against the Rays.

Also consider: Steven Kwan, Riley Greene
