Los Angeles Chargers rookie running back Omarion Hampton (ankle) has been on the injured reserve since suffering an ankle injury during their Week 5 loss to the Washington Commanders.
Even though he has been eligible to return to action for some time, the first-round pick has not made much progress and could be in danger of missing the remainder of the regular season.

Is Omarion Hampton Out for the 2025 Season?
While Hampton has not made much progress since suffering the injury, the breakout rookie has not been ruled out for the season. In fact, he could be in the mix to return as early as Week 13, coming out of their Week 12 bye.
Before their bye, head coach Jim Harbaugh noted that he did not expect the former UNC standout to be in the mix to return before their week off. However, he has been seen without a walking boot working off to the side during team practices, which is a positive sign.
With an extra week of rest under his belt, managers should pay close attention to his status this week as he could make his long-awaited return to practice, opening the door for a potential Week 14 return. Given the time he missed, he will face an uphill battle to return this weekend.

Omarion Hampton 2025 Fantasy Football Outlook
Even though Hampton may not return in Week 13, he remains a must-stash in all leagues. When active, managers should expect him to reclaim the lead RB1 role from Kimani Vidal. In Hampton's absence, Vidal has had success at times but has also been very inconsistent. He has tallied at least 17.0 PPR points three times but fallen under the double-digit mark in the other three games he has been a starter in.
In Weeks 3 through 5, Hampton saw a drastic increase in work with Najee Harris (Achilles) on the shelf and did not disappoint, averaging a stellar 21.4 PPR points per game. During this stretch, Hampton averaged 5.6 YPC and saw a hefty 6.0 targets per game in the passing attack.
Given his expected role as a three-down back, Hampton will carry low-end RB1 upside as soon as he is activated from the IR. Managers should continue to stash him in all leagues and feel comfortable inserting him into their lineup when he is cleared.
In the meantime, Vidal will continue to hold mid-end RB2 value, with high-end RB2 upside in favorable matchups. This weekend, Vidal has a tougher matchup against the Raiders, who have allowed the 15th-fewest PPR points to opposing RBs.
