Is Kyler Murray a Top-5 Fantasy Football Quarterback in 2024?

Kyler Murray - Fantasy Football Rankings, Draft Sleepers, NFL DFS Picks

Abby looks at whether Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray will be a top-5 quarterback for the upcoming 2024 fantasy football season. Read the outlook.

Kyler Murray marked his return from an ACL injury last year in Week 10 against the Atlanta Falcons. Despite various concerns about his health, the Arizona Cardinals quarterback stayed healthy and was available to play the rest of the games.

When healthy, Murray is one of the most exciting quarterbacks to watch in the NFL. Last year he showed that, despite a serious knee injury, he was trending in the right direction. He finished the season with 1,799 yards, 10 touchdowns, and five interceptions in eight games while having a passer rating of 89.4.

He will be fully healthy for training camp this year and will be the Cardinals' Week 1 starter. Moreover, Murray is one of the best quarterbacks when it comes to fantasy football, and many players are already looking at him ahead of drafts. Is the Cardinals star a top-5 fantasy football quarterback this year? Let's explore his fantasy outlook.

Be sure to check all of our fantasy football rankings for 2025:

Kyler Murray 2024 Fantasy Football Outlook

Kyler Murray is a dual-threat quarterback, and that makes him a much-coveted player in fantasy football. Despite returning from a lengthy absence last year, he managed to rush for 244 yards on 44 carries and three touchdowns.

This shows that Murray could return to his 2020 form, where he threw for 3,971 yards and 26 touchdowns while also rushing for 819 yards and 11 touchdowns in 16 games. The Cardinals also drafted Marvin Harrison Jr. with the fourth overall pick in this year's draft, and he will further make life easy for Murray.

Under head coach Jonathan Gannon, the NFC West franchise has undergone numerous changes, but Murray is poised to have a big season and lead it to the playoffs. The Cardinals have improved their offensive line, and a wide receiver trio of Harrison Jr., Zay Jones, and Michael Wilson will further help Murray put up impressive numbers.

Additionally, they have excellent running backs in James Conner and Trey Benson, who will also open up the field for the receivers as well as for the quarterback if he decides to move on his feet. If Murray stays healthy, he will undoubtedly have a fantastic season for his team and rack up a significant number of points in fantasy football.

However, due to his health concerns and players like Josh Allen, Patrick Mahomes, Jalen Hurts, Lamar Jackson, Anthony Richardson, and C.J. Stroud, I think the Cardinals star is not a top-5 fantasy football quarterback this year. The quarterbacks that I mentioned have a higher ceiling than Murray, but if you fail to draft them, then the 26-year-old Oklahoma product will still be a stellar quarterback for your fantasy football teams this year.
