The Chicago Bears have reached an agreement with running back D'Onta Foreman to join its offense in 2023. After tough injury luck to begin his career, Foreman has put together two solid seasons in Carolina and Tennessee, so he could have fantasy football intrigue in 2023.

Chicago is expected to be an ascending offense in Justin Fields' third NFL season, so Bears' running backs could have more touchdown upside next season.

How did Foreman play in 2022 and what is his early fantasy football outlook for 2023? Let's dive in.

D'Onta Foreman 2022 Season Review

In Foreman's first full season of his career (17 games), he rushed 203 times for 914 yards (4.5 YPC) and five rushing touchdowns. The 26-year-old added five receptions for 26 yards. He got some touches before Christian McCaffery was traded, but became the primary back ahead of Chuba Hubbard and Raheem Blackshear when CMC was traded to San Francisco.

It was a career year for Foreman and he finally fully resolved his injury struggles that dampened his early-career production.

Needless to say, he's more of a one-dimensional back and between-the-tackles grinder, which has value in a run-heavy Bears' offense with a scrambling QB.

D'Onta Foreman 2023 Fantasy Football Outlook

While Foreman is a solid Best Ball piece and bench stash, it's tough to see a path to a nuclear fantasy season. Khalil Herbert was one of the most efficient ball carriers during the 2022 season and remains on the roster after the departure of David Montgomery. Herbert will likely lead the backfield in touches, with Foreman coming in second and Travis Homer coming in third.

Since Fields is unlikely to target running backs and Foreman is no more than a committee running back, it'll take a high-touchdown rate for him to be a weekly starter in 2023 fantasy football.

Before the 2023 NFL Draft, Foreman can be viewed as a mid-level RB3 option in fantasy drafts. If Chicago selects a running back in April before the fifth round, Foreman could be unrosterable by the time the season kicks off. He's a nice depth player for Chicago, but his 2022 campaign was likely his fantasy ceiling.
