Carolina Panthers quarterback Bryce Young was the first overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. Young had an excellent college career, completing 65.8% of his pass attempts for 8,356 yards and 80 touchdowns in three years at Alabama.
Unfortunately, the Panthers lack a proven go-to No. 1 wide receiver. Instead, the rookie’s top weapons in the passing game are Adam Thielen, Hayden Hurst, and D.J. Chark. However, the No. 1 overall pick had a decent NFL debut in Week 1 against the Atlanta Falcons.
Young completed 52.6% of his pass attempts for 146 yards and a touchdown against the division rivals. He also had three rushing attempts for 17 yards in the game. Unfortunately, the former Alabama star also had two interceptions, ending the contest with only 7.54 fantasy points.

Is Bryce Young Playing In Week 3?
However, Young played well in his second career NFL game. The No. 1 overall pick completed 66.7% of his pass attempts for 153 yards and a touchdown against the New Orleans Saints in Week 2. He also had two rushing attempts for 34 yards, scoring 13.52 fantasy points in the game.
Unfortunately, the former Alabama star suffered an ankle injury in the contest. After not practicing on Wednesday and Thursday, Young is expected to miss the Week 3 matchup against the Seattle Seahawks.
Should I Pickup And Start Andy Dalton?
While the ankle injury isn’t believed to be severe, the Panthers are playing it smart with their franchise quarterback. Dalton will start this week, with Young not expected to play.
Fantasy players in a superflex league should add the veteran quarterback off the waiver wire. Dalton has an appealing matchup against the Seahawks. Seattle has surrendered 18.7 fantasy points per game to quarterbacks this season, the 11th-most in the NFL. Furthermore, Jared Goff had 323 passing yards, three touchdowns, and 22.92 fantasy points against the Seahawks in Week 2.
However, Dalton isn’t a starting option in 1QB leagues this week. Fantasy players who need a last-minute quarterback off the waiver wire should add Baker Mayfield.
The veteran is the QB13 this season, averaging 245 passing yards, 1.5 touchdowns, and 17.2 fantasy points per game. He faces the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 3. They have surrendered over 26 fantasy points per game to quarterbacks this season.
