Is Brock Purdy Healthy Or Injured? Will Purdy Be Ready For Training Camp?

Brock Purdy - Fantasy Football Rankings, Draft Sleepers, Waiver Wire Pickups

Is Brock Purdy hurt or healthy? Will Brock Purdy be ready for training camp? Read the latest offseason fantasy football injury updates.

The San Francisco 49ers came within one game of reaching the Super Bowl this season. They were easily one of the most dominant teams in the NFL and were rock solid at almost every position on the field.

The one major question mark they had all year was at quarterback, where they were dealt significant blow after significant blow. They couldn't seem to keep any of their field generals healthy. However, in early December, it was the team's final pick of the 2022 NFL Draft, Brock Purdy, who took San Francisco by storm.

But in the NFC Championship game this past Sunday versus the Philadelphia Eagles, Purdy injured himself and now there are serious questions about his availability moving forward. Will he be ready for training camp? Let's take a closer look.

Brock Purdy Injury Updates For Fantasy Football

Brock Purdy Injury News

The man known as "Mr. Irrelevant" wasn't even supposed to be on an NFL roster in 2022, let alone start an NFC Championship game at the end of January. Purdy wasn't San Francisco's first choice; heck, he wasn't even their second.

A promising young rookie and the Niners' first-round draft pick in 2021, Trey Lance, suffered a season-ending injury in the second game of the year. Veteran Jimmy Garoppolo broke his foot in December in a game against the Dolphins and missed the remainder of the season.

The team's third option at quarterback was the 23-year-old, an inexperienced rookie who somehow showed the poise of a seasoned veteran. Under his leadership, the Iowa State University product led the team to a 7-1 record and posted a 111.4 passer rating after Garoppolo got hurt. However, during Sunday's title tilt with the Eagles, Purdy tore the UCL in his throwing shoulder, which is expected to sideline him for up to six months.

Will Brock Purdy Be Ready For Training Camp?

What would be easier, throwing darts blindfolded at a bullseye, or figuring out who will be the starting quarterback for the 49ers in 2023? Based on recent history, the former might be your best bet.

Between Lance, Garoppolo, Purdy, and various rumored free agents possibly headed to the Bay area this offseason, along with injuries everywhere, it's anyone's guess who will be under center this Fall.

Purdy's timeline was reported by ESPN's Adam Schefter as six months, but that obviously could change if he has setbacks or needs surgery. Had this not happened on Sunday, perhaps the carousel at quarterback would have fewer potential candidates. But it did, so now the questions and speculation will run rampant for the next several months.
