MLB Pitcher Prop Bets - Today's Betting Picks
MacKenzie Gore OVER 4.5 strikeouts (-140 DraftKings Sportsbook)
Gore should be a bit more stretched out after throwing 73 pitches across 5 1/3 innings pitched in his debut against Atlanta. He struck out three in that contest against a tough Braves lineup that is posting a K rate inside the top half of baseball against lefties to begin the season. He will get the Reds today, who are much worse and are posting the 10th-highest K rate against lefties with a mark of 26.5% while also posting a measly 56 wRC+ mark.
Charlie Morton UNDER 5.5 strikeouts (+105 DraftKings Sportsbook)
This could be a bit dicey, but the numbers are in the Dodgers' corner. The Dodgers are posting the ninth-best K rate against right-handers to begin the season with a rate of just 20.5% while also posting a very solid wRC+ mark of 134. Meanwhile, Morton has not struck out over 5.5 in either of his first two starts while allowing seven earned runs through his first 10 1/3 innings pitched. One of these starts also came against the Reds, who have posted the second-highest K rate against righties to begin 2022.
Luis Severino OVER 5.5 strikeouts (+120 Caesars Sportsbook)
I am not quite sure why Severino is plus money on this total today as he has struck out five and six batters in his first two starts, respectively. He has also worked himself up to 83 pitches in his last start, so longevity should not be a major concern. He will be facing the Tigers, who have posted a K rate of 24.3% vs. right-handers to begin 2022, which is ranked in the bottom-10 of the league. They have also struggled to score runs as they have posted just a wRC+ of 67.
MLB Hitter Prop Bets - Today's Betting Picks
Jared Walsh OVER 1.5 total bases (+120 DraftKings Sportsbook)
Walsh has started the season hot as he is posting a .314 AVG with two home runs and six RBI. He has hit righties to the tune of a .903 OPS in his first 28 at-bats and will get a solid matchup against Jake Odorizzi. While Odorizzi has been worse against righties in recent years, he did post a 4.72 FIP and 1.59 WHIP against left-handed hitters a season ago.
