Week 4 Running Back Rankings Outlooks
Trey Benson, Arizona Cardinals
Arizona Cardinals running back Trey Benson should be in line for a significant workload increase after the unfortunate news that veteran Cardinals back James Conner (ankle) will miss the remainder of 2025 due to an ankle injury. Benson has logged 21 carries for 125 yards and eight receptions for 45 yards through the first three games of the season.
He may not play a true three-down role, as Arizona mixed in running back Emari Demercado on passing downs after Conner went down in Week 3. Still, Benson should dominate touches in the Arizona backfield and is the priority waiver-wire addition in all fantasy leagues where he remains available.
Najee Harris, Los Angeles Chargers
Los Angeles Chargers running back Najee Harris (Achilles) is officially out for the rest of the season due to a torn Achilles he suffered during Sunday's 23-20 win over the Denver Broncos, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. Harris was lined up in the backfield when he suffered a non-contact Achilles injury in Week 3. He immediately went to the locker room and was ruled out. With Harris sidelined, rookie first-round pick Omarion Hampton will step in as the team's clear-cut RB1 and immediately work his way into the top-20 running backs to start in Week 4.
Hassan Haskins projects to step into the No. 2 role. It was a tough season for Harris, as he was slowed down by an eye injury over the summer and now this injury. At 27 years old, Harris remains a hold in dynasty formats, but can be dropped in redraft leagues.
Quinshon Judkins, Cleveland Browns
Cleveland Browns rookie running back Quinshon Judkins delivered a standout performance in Sunday's surprising 13-10 victory over the Green Bay Packers. He carried the ball 18 times for 94 yards and scored a game-tying touchdown late in the fourth quarter. He also caught one pass for one yard. Judkins' impressive showing came against one of the league's best defenses, solidifying his role as the team's lead back. Despite missing training camp due to legal issues, which still pose a potential suspension threat, his immediate impact and upside make him a must-start RB2 in fantasy leagues moving forward.
Tyrone Tracy Jr., New York Giants
According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, New York Giants running back Tyrone Tracy Jr. (shoulder) is expected to miss 2-4 weeks due to a dislocated shoulder. The second-year running back suffered this injury during their Week 3 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday evening. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his status, but it appears Tracy will avoid a stint on the injured reserve. During the first three games of the season, Tracy took 22 carries for 68 yards and caught eight of his 13 targets for 54 yards.
While he remains idle, managers should expect rookie Cam Skattebo to take the lead in the backfield. Since Week 2, Skattebo has already seen his workload increase, and with Tracy sidelined, he should see the majority of the opportunities.
Zach Charbonnet, Seattle Seahawks
Seattle Seahawks running back Zach Charbonnet (foot) was listed as a full participant on Monday's estimated practice report. Charbonnet was unable to suit up this past Sunday due to this foot injury. However, seeing him already listed as a full participant suggests he is in a position to return to action this Thursday when the Seahawks face the Arizona Cardinals. In Week 1, Charbonnet saw most of the opportunities in the Seattle backfield as he took 12 carries for 47 yards and a score.
However, in Week 2, Charbonnet took the backseat to Kenneth Walker III as he only totaled a mere 10 yards on 15 attempts. If Charbonnet were to suit up, fantasy managers should expect both running backs to limit each other's ceilings as they will likely split carries on Thursday evening.
Dylan Sampson, Cleveland Browns
Cleveland Browns running back Dylan Sampson was an afterthought in his team's 13-10 win over the Green Bay Packers in Week 3. Sampson saw just one carry, turning it into a two-yard gain, and was not targeted in the passing attack. The rookie's role has dwindled considerably since Week 1, not surprisingly coinciding with the activation of fellow rookie Quinshon Judkins ahead of last week's game.
Sampson was looking like a solid PPR flex option after a Week 1 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals, but he has quickly become a drop candidate in fantasy leagues heading into Week 4's road matchup against the Detroit Lions.
