2025 Fantasy Football PPR Running Back Rankings (August Updates)
Fantasy Football Running Back Player Outlooks
Bijan Robinson, Atlanta Falcons
Atlanta Falcons running back Bijan Robinson just ran roughshod over the NFL, totaling 1,456 yards and 14 touchdowns on 304 carries. The versatile back also brought in 61 of his 72 targets for another 431 yards and a score, making him the RB4 in half-PPR and RB3 in PPR scoring. After flashing plenty of promise with 16 touches per game as a rookie, he performed even better while averaging 21.5 touches as a sophomore.
His success rate jumped from 43.5% to 60%, per Pro Football Reference. The phenom also cut four rookie fumbles down to just one on his 365 touches. Still only 23 years old, Robinson should enjoy plenty of work in the next-generation Atlanta attack alongside Michael Penix Jr. and Drake London. With his ADP and fantasy rank holding around the first three picks, the bar is set high to match the trending potential.

Isiah Pacheco, Kansas City Chiefs
Isiah Pacheco's current ADPs in best ball leagues (84/RB31) and dynasty startups (92/RB28) represent a considerable decline when contrasted with his selection as an RB1 in both formats (ADP 27/RB11) and (ADP 40/RB10) during the 2024 draft season. This is the byproduct of Pacheco's disappointing numbers last season, which failed to match the expectations that emerged after Pacheco had soared to seventh in rushing yards (912/70.2 per game), ninth in yards after contact (580), and 11th in points per game (15.7) from Weeks 2-17 during 2023.
He also secured the 11th-highest grade among all backs from PFF (79.9). However, Pacheco sustained a fractured fibula in Week 2 of 2024 and was sidelined from Weeks 3-12. He operated in a rotation with Kareem Hunt following his return while trailing Hunt in snap share (40.3/37.0 percent). Pacheco also failed to perform effectively while averaging 9.8 attempts/35 rushing yards per game, and 3.6 yards per attempt from Weeks 13-17, and plummeted to 58th with an average of 5.0 points per game.
Pacheco could share touches with Hunt again after Hunt signed a one-year contract in March. Kansas City also signed former 49er Elijah Mitchell and selected Brashard Smith in Round 7 of the recent NFL Draft. Pacheco's uncertain workload and his recent history of injuries should incentivize you to avoid drafting him before his Round 8 ADPs in best ball leagues and dynasty startups.

Travis Etienne Jr., Jacksonville Jaguars
As a first-round draft pick in 2021, Jacksonville Jaguars running back Travis Etienne Jr. came into the NFL with high expectations. And despite a Lisfranc injury that caused him to miss his rookie season, he appeared set to meet them. However, following an excellent 2022, Etienne has seen his efficiency decline and his backfield competition increase. Etienne played all 17 games in 2023 and received the lion's share of the carries, but averaged just 3.8 yards per carry and sputtered down the stretch.
In 2024, things were even worse - Etienne was out-touched by backup Tank Bigsby, who was also the more effective of the two. Overall, the former first-round pick had 558 yards and two touchdowns over 150 rushing attempts while catching 39 passes for 254 yards over 15 games. The 26-year-old also missed time last year due to a hamstring injury. On top of that, Etienne and Bigsby will have to compete with fourth-round rookie Bhayshul Tuten. The Jaguars appear set on having a committee approach at the running back position, which could spell doom for Etienne's RB1 days in fantasy football.
Even if his efficiency improves back to 2022 levels, Bigsby and Tuten will eat into his touches on early downs. While this may benefit Etienne on third downs, his lack of clear opportunity means you should stay away.

TreVeyon Henderson, New England Patriots
New England Patriots rookie running back TreVeyon Henderson will join veteran RB Rhamondre Stevenson for what projects to be some kind of committee backfield. Stevenson has fumbling issues, but he still has utility as a power runner and has solid tackle-breaking ability. Henderson's best trait is his pass-protection, so it makes sense that the Patriots wanted him. They had a horrible offensive line this year. They made some changes and brought in new talent, but it's hard not to think they still might struggle.
Henderson's through-contact skillset leaves much to be desired as well. He has good pass-catching upside, though, and he should be used extensively as a receiver in Year 1, due to the lack of other receiving talent on the team. He should have plenty of opportunities in PPR scoring formats.
