FanDuel MLB DFS Lineup Picks (5/10/21): Daily Fantasy Baseball Advice

Rafael Devers - Fantasy Baseball Rankings, MLB DFS Picks, Betting Picks

Mike Marteny highlights the top FanDuel MLB DFS lineup picks for 5/10/21, and a couple of sleepers to consider while building daily rosters.

It is one of the lightest nights of the 2021 season so far with just six games on the schedule. When Kyle Gibson is the highest-priced pitcher on the slate, you know we're in trouble. Four pitchers are priced under $8,000, so we have chances to save some money on pitching and pay up for hitting in GPP formats. Are any of these pitchers worth taking a chance on? We'll get to that.

The slate could be cut even smaller with rain a serious problem in Denver tomorrow. I'm all for Coors being removed from this slate, but what other hitters will be pay up for? If you use anyone from this game, make sure you have time to check before first pitch in case it's called off. There will be a decent breeze blowing out to right in Phoenix, making a good hitter's ballpark even better.

I'll be providing you with my daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for the FanDuel main slate on 5/10/2021. Be sure to also check out all the MLB player news, including late scratches, and the projected and confirmed daily MLB lineups for each DFS slate. You can also check out today's DraftKings MLB DFS lineup picks, and read more DFS advice and lineup picks for other sports too. Let's get to it!

FanDuel DFS Pitchers

Cash Game/GPP Anchor Play:

Alex Wood – SF vs. TEX ($8,900)

Wood has been outstanding so far this season. Only giving up two runs in five innings in Coors in his last outing proved that. Texas is no longer impotent against lefties, but Wood has pitched so well on the season that he's the safest bet on the board tonight. Now the bad news: The 1.96 ERA has come in two starts against the Marlins and two against the Rockies with home and road split in both of them. Whatever is is about the home cooking of Oracle Park, Wood turns into Nolan Ryan there. He has 16 strikeouts in 13 innings in two home games. He has just six strikeouts in 10 road innings. Let's ride Wood at home on the small slate.

Potential Alternate Play

Tyler Mahle – CIN at PIT ($8,900)

If we use Wood at home, we should only use Mahle on the road. He just got blown up by the Cubs last week at home. However, Mahle has given up just three runs on the road this year in starts against the Dodgers, Diamondbacks, and Giants. Pittsburgh's offense has been one of the worst in the league so far and it's not getting any better. Like Wood, Mahle isn't a high strikeout guy either, but the only one that might be on the slate tonight is Dinelson Lamet. He's pitching at Coors and the Padres haven't let him go three innings in a start yet. That's a hard pass. These two are the best options with Wood getting the slight edge for strikeout upside.

FanDuel DFS Infielders

Jared Walsh – 1B, LAA at HOU ($3,300)

The Angels thought enough of Walsh to designate Albert Pujols for assignment last week. Who can blame them? Walsh is several million cheaper as has started the season on a tear. Walsh is hitting .325 with six homers and 27 RBI in 32 games. One of those homers already came off of Houston's starter for tonight, Luis Garcia. Did I mention that Walsh is a career .285 hitter against righties with 14 of his 16 career homers against them?

Josh Rojas – 2B/SS, ARI vs. MIA ($3,000)

Rojas has cooled off a little, but he still hasn't had a scoreless game in his last nine outings. Rojas is still getting on base and driving in runs. His low mark in those nine games is six FanDuel points. Miami is slated to use veteran Ross Detwiler and youngster Jordan Holloway to eat the innings in this one. This points to a good game from Rojas, especially with the wind out to right.

Rafael Devers – 3B, BOS at BAL ($3,600)

Devers hit home run number eight yesterday, and he has to be a favorite for number nine tonight. Devers has two homers and four RBI in his two career games against Jorge Lopez. There are a lot of good hitter spots even in the game in Coors doesn't play. Devers might be the best of the lot and he's far from the highest priced. I'm all over Devers tonight.

Fernando Tatis Jr. – SS, SD at COL ($4,600)

The Rockies are slated to bring Antonio Senzatela off the IL tonight. Poor guy. Tatis his hitting .408 in ten career games at Coors Field. Tatis is only hitting .240 on the season, but he does have nine home runs. He's going to add to that total if this game plays. If it doesn't, run him tomorrow. I really like Tatis in this series, but so does everyone else.

FanDuel DFS Outfielders

Jesse Winker – OF, CIN at PIT ($3,900)

Winker has been on fire to start the season, hitting .354 with six homers and 17 RBI in 25 games. He's leading off of a pretty good lineup against a pretty bad pitcher. Mitch Keller was the top prospect in the Pirates organization a few years back, but that has not translated into much success on the major league level. Until Keller starts getting big-league hitters out, chase him. He has an embarrassing 10.13 ERA in three home starts this year.

Alex Verdugo – OF, BOS at BAL ($3,300)

Verdugo has four multi-hit games in his last six tries. Tonight he draws Jorge Lopez, a guy that he is 3-4 with a homer and three RBI off of. He has overcome a slow start and is hitting stride right now. Baltimore's pitching staff is not good on any level, starters through bullpen. Boston is plenty cheap enough to stack here and Verdugo will be in every one of them.

Adam Duvall – OF, MIA at ARI ($3,000)

Duvall hit two homers against Arizona in the three-game series last week in Miami. One of those was against tonight's starter, Luke Weaver. Now they move to a much more hitter-friendly environment in Phoenix. The power is nothing new for Duvall. He smacked 16 homers in 57 games for Atlanta last year and had two 30-homer seasons while with the Reds. Don't get shocked if Duvall knocks another one out tonight.
