FanDuel MLB DFS Lineup Picks (4/8/21): Daily Fantasy Baseball Advice

I hit big with my McMahon call the other day. But that's just one of many calls I've nailed lately as part of a not too shabby start. Let's see if I can keep it going with my Thursday FanDuel lineup picks.

Unlike my previous two previews, there is far less pitching talent on the mound today. Do you spend up to get one of the few solid pitching options or should we focus on the hitters?

Read below to find out what I do in providing you with my daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for the FanDuel main slate on 4/8/2021. Be sure to also check out all the MLB player news, including late scratches, and the projected and confirmed daily MLB lineups for each DFS slate. You can also check out today's DraftKings MLB DFS lineup picks, and read more DFS advice and lineup picks for other sports too. With that out of the way, let's get t0 my winning picks!

FanDuel DFS Pitchers

Cash Game/GPP Anchor Play:

Jose Berrios - MIN vs SEA ($9,600)

I've been bypassing the top options lately, but not today. Maybe it's because this time we can get the top option at under $10K. But that doesn't mean Berrios doesn't have ace potential. Berrios hurled six innings of a no-hitter against the Brewers last week, finishing the day with a win and twelve strikeouts. Berrios has flirted with 200-K seasons and regularly notches double-digit wins.

The Mariners are not quite the free-swingers that the Brewers are, but expect another solid outing from Berrios.

Potential Alternate Play

Matt Harvey - BAL vs BOS ($6,500)

Or you could go to the other end of the scale and really skimp on pitching. Call it a gut call, but I think the Orioles win this game. Boston just isn't the lineup it once was and Harvey could be a huge leverage play with expected low ownership.

FanDuel DFS Infielders

Mitch Garver- C, MIN vs SEA  ($2400)

Since I'm spending up elsewhere, I need to find a few cheap options. I think Berrios sees some run support today, especially against Marco Gonzales and his current 7.50 ERA. At $2400, I'll gladly take a player with 30+ homers during the 2019 season.

Ryan McMahon - 2B/3B, COL vs ARI ($3700)

Let's be clear, he is not having another 3-dinger night tonight. But it's not "point-chasing". McMahon is obviously off to a great start. But equally as attractive is the left-handed McMahon facing off against the right-handed Merrill Kelly. Kelly sports a 2.00 WHIP and 6.75 ERA. The game is in Colorado too.

His price only jumped $200. Fire up McMahon again.

Yoan Moncada - 3B, CWS vs KCR ($3,100)

The switch-hitting Moncada will battle with the right-handed Brad Keller who got absolutely bombed in his only outing so far this year. Moncada brings a decent floor to this game with at least six FanDuel fantasy points in each of his last four games.

Jorge Polanco- SS, MIN vs SEA ($2500)

If you haven't figured it out yet, I will be stacking Twins on Thursday. I know, sounds like some deranged geneticist's study. That aside, what does Polanco have to do to get a little respect? Polanco had a very respectable .841 OPS when he got over 600 ABs in 2019. And it's not like he was bad last year either. Fine by me. I'll gladly take Polanco at this bargain-basement price.

FanDuel DFS Outfielders

Nelson Cruz - OF, MIN vs SEA ($4200)

If I'm going with the lighter bat that is Polanco, you know I'm gonna bust out the whupping stick with Cruz! We know Cruz has 40+ homer potential, but he has started this season absolutely ablaze. He has a titanic OPS above 1.500, buoyed by his three homers and .471 batting average so far.

Easy play.

Charlie Blackmon - OF/1B, COL vs ARZ ($3,900)

We ain't done with the big bats just yet, as I absolutely love Blackmon today. Blackmon has not had the start to the season that Cruz had. But as the rest of the Rockies continue to hit, Blackmon should see a return to his 30-homer .300+ average. Positive regression is coming and it comes today.

Dylan Carlson - OF, STL vs MIL ($2,800)

After splurging on Cruz and Blackmon, we need to be a little more salary conscious and one of my favorite OF bargains of the day is Dylan Carlson. He is definitely more of a GPP play, as he only has three hits so far this season. But all three hits have been round-trippers. I'll take the risk!
