FanDuel MLB DFS Lineup Picks (4/19/21): Daily Fantasy Baseball Advice

Mike Trout - Fantasy Baseball Rankings, MLB Injury News, DFS and Betting Picks

Mike Marteny highlights the top FanDuel MLB DFS lineup picks for 4/19/21, and a couple of sleepers to consider while building daily rosters.

Our Monday slate is slightly smaller than yesterday's main slate with seven games on the docket tonight. Well, there was supposed to be seven. The entire Minnesota series with Oakland is in danger of not playing due to extended COVID testing and protocols on the Minnesota team. So what do we have?

We have a couple of games in pitcher's parks. We have one in a hitter's paradise. Fortunately, all six games are going to have clear skies, though it will be a little chilly in Kansas City, especially after the sun goes down.

I'll be providing you with my daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for the FanDuel main slate on 4/19/2021. Be sure to also check out all the MLB player news, including late scratches, and the projected and confirmed daily MLB lineups for each DFS slate. You can also check out today's DraftKings MLB DFS lineup picks, and read more DFS advice and lineup picks for other sports too. Let's get to it!

FanDuel DFS Pitchers

Cash Game/GPP Anchor Play:

Dustin May – LAD at SEA ($9,300)

I'll explain why I'm not gung-ho on Joe Musgrove later on. The next couple of pitchers are close to the same. All have ups and downs, but May has the most potential against Seattle. He's not going deep into games, which is a bit of a concern, but he is averaging more than a strikeout per inning. Brandon Woodruff passes the eye test, but his numbers are a bit inflated since he has pitched against the Cubs twice already. The Seattle offense has struck out 137 times already in 16 games. There's a lot of upside here.

Potential Alternate Play

Dylan Bundy – LAA vs. TEX($9,000)

There's a lot of risk attached to this since the Rangers have clobbered Bundy in his career. They are hitting .403 against him in 74 at-bats with six home runs. Bundy is a different pitcher in L.A. though. A lot of those numbers are inflated by pitching in Camden Yards during the summer. While Bundy has yet to record a win in three starts this year, he does have 22 strikeouts in 19 innings. The Rangers offense is not exactly a well-oiled unit right now either. They aren't even averaging four runs per game. Bundy should get his first win of the season tonight.

FanDuel DFS Infielders

Jared Walsh – 1B, LAA vs. TEX ($3,500)

Walsh is off to a hot start, hitting .341 with four homers and 13 RBI already. Now he gets a crack at the Texas bullpen. Walsh has hit lefties much better so far in his young career, but 12 of his 14 career home runs have come against right handed pitcher. The power is coming against righties, and that's what we're playing Walsh for.

Keston Hiura – 1B/2B, MIL at SD ($2,600)

Hiura is off to an atrocious start, but he is still drawing walks, so he has some value in DFS. He profiles really well against Joe Musgrove. I expect Musgrove to garner high ownership because of his no-hitter two starts ago, but I'll let you in a on a dirty little secret. Musgrove has never beaten the Brewers in five starts and carries a 6.14 ERA against them in his career. Hiura profiles very well against the slider and fastball that Musgrove throws, which helps explain his 3-8 with a homer against Musgrove in his career. He's not a bad option if you are okay punting 2B.

Evan Longoria– 3B, SF at PHI ($3,100)

Longoria is off to a very nice start this year, hitting .304 with four homers already. He is making better contact this year, which has resulted in higher exit velocity and an improved launch angle. Chase Anderson is a pitcher with some nasty reverse splits. Righties are hitting .274 off of Anderson compared to .223 by lefties. The Giants are a lot better from the left side, but Longoria and Buster Posey look like the better plays tonight.

Isiah Kiner-Falefa – SS/3B, TEX at LAA ($2,800)

I don't usually like playing guys with little power, but Kiner-Falefa is 6-10 lifetime against Dylan Bundy. I don't expect this Texas lineup to do what they have in the past against Bundy for a variety of reasons, but Kiner-Falefa leading off seems like acceptable risk if the Rangers obliterate Bundy like they have in the past. And hey, if he shuts the Rangers down, a zero at this price wont destroy your lineup.

FanDuel DFS Outfielders

Mike Trout – OF, LAA vs. TEX ($4,600)

Trout is a good play each and every night. That's no secret. This is especially true when playing the Rangers. Trout has slugged 38 homers against the Rangers in his career and boasts at .325 average. The Rangers bullpen is among the worst in the league so far this year and Kohei Arihara is only pitching about four innings per start. That's at least two at-bats against that bullpen. I will have plenty of Angels tonight.

Mookie Betts – OF, LAD at SEA ($4,500)

I didn't think it was possible, but Justus Sheffield has been even worse against righties so far than his career splits. Righties are now hitting a scorching .301 against Sheffield. Sheffield likely wont last that long is this game, but the Dodgers righties should all be worth their while regardless of what they do against the Seattle bullpen.

Avisail Garcia – OF, MIL at SD ($2,900)

Garcia is cheap and hitting cleanup for an offense that is starting to wake up. I'm still torn on how much I want to go after Musgrove, but his start after his no-hitter was less than exceptional. Garcia profiles almost a well as Hiura does, but I'm inclined to trust Garcia more based on his success so far this year. You remember how highly touted of a prospect that Garcia was in the White Sox organization, right?
