As the fantasy season winds down, waiver wire pickups can make the difference between a championship and a disappointing finish. With slumps, injuries, and hot streaks shaking up lineups, now is the time to add players who can provide immediate production or long-term upside.
Catchers and infielders like Gabriel Moreno and Eric Wagaman offer multi-position eligibility and recent hot streaks, while speedsters like Jose Caballero can single-handedly boost stolen bases. Contact hitters such as Chase Meidroth provide a steady batting average floor, and outfielders like Parker Meadows and Brandon Marsh round out a group of red-hot options.
On the pitching side, streamers and bullpen arms can tilt matchups in your favor. SPs like Stephen Kolek and Yu Darvish offer strikeout upside, while Tyler Kinley has been nearly untouchable in high-leverage innings.

Fantasy Baseball Waiver Wire Hitters to Target
Gabriel Moreno, C, Arizona Diamondbacks

Moreno has been one of the more underappreciated hot bats at the catcher position. For the season, he’s posting a strong .286/.343/.449 slash line, but he’s taken things up a notch over the last month. During that stretch, Moreno is batting .340 with three home runs and 13 RBI, providing steady production in both batting average and run creation.
Given the scarcity of reliable catchers, Moreno stands out as an excellent add in standard formats and a must in two-catcher leagues. His consistent contact skills give him a safe floor, and the recent uptick in power adds much-needed ceiling at a position that often lacks it. Fantasy managers dealing with slumps from Salvador Perez, Drake Baldwin, or Agustin Ramirez should strongly consider pivoting to Moreno while he’s still available in the majority of leagues.

Wagaman is heating up at the plate and could be one of the sneakier adds this week. The Marlins' corner infielder/outfielder is batting .323 over the past month with three home runs, and he’s been especially locked in lately, going 6-for-10 across his last three games. The added bonus? Wagaman brings rare multi-position flexibility, making him an easy plug-and-play option in deeper formats.
With Miami heading to Colorado on Tuesday, the timing couldn’t be better to stash Wagaman before he gets more attention. Coors Field has long been known to boost hitters, and a hot bat like Wagaman’s could translate into a short-term fantasy spark. While he’s only rostered in 2% of leagues, that number is likely to rise quickly if he keeps producing. Don’t wait until next week—grab him now and take advantage of the favorable schedule.

Jose Caballero is one of the few waiver wire players who can almost single-handedly swing the stolen base category. The speedster has racked up 45 steals on the year, including 10 over the past month, giving him game-changing value for fantasy managers in need of speed. Even better, he won’t cost much in FAAB or waiver priority, making him a low-risk pickup with high-category upside.

While speed is his calling card, Caballero has quietly added a bit of pop lately as well, slugging two of his four home runs in the last month. Surrounded by a hot Yankees lineup, he should continue to generate runs even when he’s not in the starting nine, as New York often uses him as a weapon off the bench. For managers chasing stolen bases without tanking other categories, Caballero is one of the best available targets.

Jake Burger, 3B/SS, Chicago White Sox

Jake Burger has been one of the streakier hitters in fantasy this season, bouncing on and off waiver wires depending on his form. Currently rostered in just 35% of leagues, he’s worth another look thanks to his recent power surge. Over the past month, Burger has gone deep five times and continues to provide strong run-producing upside while batting in the heart of the Rangers' lineup.
The upcoming schedule also plays in his favor. Texas is set to face a group of pitchers with ERAs north of 4.00, including Jason Alexander, Cristian Javier, Janson Junk, Adam Mazur, Eury Perez, and Zebby Matthews. That slate could provide Burger with plenty of opportunities to keep the long ball streak alive. If you’re looking for an immediate boost in power categories, Burger is positioned to deliver and should be scooped up while he’s hot again.

Meidroth has heated up again, and his timing couldn’t be better for fantasy managers in search of batting average help. Meidroth also benefits from being part of a White Sox lineup that has suddenly found its stride, winning seven of its last 10 games. His multi-position eligibility at second, third, and shortstop only boosts his fantasy appeal, allowing managers flexibility when filling roster holes. If you’re looking for batting average stability with some modest production across the board, Meidroth is a solid under-the-radar pickup who can quietly help down the stretch.

Since returning to the Tigers’ lineup on September 5, Meadows has been a spark plug at the plate. Over his last six games, he’s posted an impressive .368/.455/.684 slash line with two home runs and six RBI, showcasing both power and patience. Meadows has quickly earned everyday at-bats, starting six of Detroit’s last seven contests, and his steady production has pushed him from the bottom of the order up to the leadoff spot in Friday’s game.
The timing of his surge couldn’t be better for fantasy managers. Detroit draws favorable matchups next week against the Guardians and Braves, giving Meadows more opportunities to deliver runs and stolen base upside from the top of the lineup. Widely available in most formats, Meadows is an excellent short-term add with the potential to provide across multiple categories while he remains locked in.
Brandon Marsh, OF, Philadelphia Phillies

Marsh continues to be an underrated fantasy contributor, offering a strong blend of on-base skills, sneaky pop, and run production. Over the past month, Marsh has been batting .325 with two home runs, eight RBI, and 13 runs scored, making him a steady across-the-board producer. His ability to get on base consistently also adds value in OBP formats, where he becomes an even more attractive option.
Hitting primarily in the five-hole, Marsh is regularly placed in run-producing spots within a loaded Phillies lineup. That positioning not only gives him plenty of RBI chances but also helps him score often, thanks to the bats around him. While not a league-winning pickup, Marsh provides the kind of balanced production that can quietly stabilize fantasy rosters down the stretch. He’s especially appealing in deeper leagues where batting average and OBP are tougher to find.

Fantasy Baseball Waiver Wire Pitchers to Target
Stephen Kolek, SP, Kansas City Royals

Kolek has quietly emerged as a streaming option thanks to a deep arsenal and excellent command that keeps hitters guessing. His sinker has been particularly effective, driving a 51.3% ground-ball rate that sits in the 87th percentile. Pair that with an elite 5.8% barrel rate, and it’s easy to see why Kolek has been so tough to square up.
The results have followed in recent weeks. Over his last three starts against the Tigers, Twins, and Guardians, Kolek has delivered three straight quality starts, allowing just four earned runs across 19 2/3 innings while striking out eight. While his upcoming matchup with the first-place Mariners will be a challenge, Kolek’s recent form suggests he’s capable of extending his hot streak. In deeper leagues or as a streaming dart throw, he’s a worthy add for managers looking to ride the momentum.
Yu Darvish, SP, San Diego Padres

It’s been a frustrating season for Darvish, who has struggled with consistency and enters Sunday with a bloated 5.65 ERA. The long ball has been his undoing, as he’s surrendered 11 homers across 12 starts. Still, Darvish’s strikeout ability remains intact, and his upcoming matchup offers a glimmer of upside for fantasy managers in need of late-week production.
The veteran is slated to face a Rockies lineup that has been one of the weakest in baseball, scoring less than three runs in five of their last six games. Given Colorado’s lack of punch, Darvish is well-positioned to limit damage and potentially sneak a quality start. For managers in tight playoff battles, Darvish is a high-risk, high-reward streamer who could pay off in a cushy matchup. He’s not without risk, but the circumstances make him worth a gamble to close out the week.

Kinley has been nearly untouchable out of the Braves’ bullpen, not allowing a run since August 5. Over the past month, he’s racked up four wins, three holds, and 12 strikeouts across 12 1/3 innings, showcasing dominance in high-leverage situations. Kinley’s slider has been his primary weapon, helping him generate a 31.5% whiff rate and a 30.8% chase rate, keeping hitters off balance despite an elevated 11.8% walk rate.
Statcast metrics underline his effectiveness: Kinley ranks in the 94th percentile for average exit velocity allowed (86.6 mph) and the 98th percentile for hard-hit rate suppression (30.5%). For fantasy managers in need of a reliever with strikeout upside and strong ratios, Kinley is an elite option. While he carries some risk with the walk rate, his recent form makes him a must-watch streamer for managers looking to secure a late-inning hurler.

Travis Bazzana, 2B, Cleveland Guardians

Travis Bazzana is heating up in Triple-A Columbus and could be on the cusp of a major league call-up. The Guardians’ top prospect posted a pair of three-hit games last week, showcasing the contact and speed tools that make him a potential catalyst at second base. With just 15 games left in the season and Cleveland only 3½ games out of a Wild Card spot, Bazzana’s addition could provide a timely spark.

While the Guardians are unlikely to rush his service time, a promotion would inject energy into a lineup that has already won eight of its last 10 games.
