DraftKings, FanDuel Daily Fantasy Baseball Picks (5/5/22): Today's Top MLB DFS Lineups

The top daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for FanDuel and DraftKings on May 5th, 2022. Brian Entrekin's MLB DFS analysis and sleepers for building optimal DFS rosters.

Welcome back to another edition of the FREE DraftKings and FanDuel MLB DFS picks. Today we have a 6-game slate on tap. It is a slate with some excellent, top-tier pitching, making stacking things more interesting. The biggest question will be which high-priced pitchers to target and what value bats to pair with them, as the value pitchers are few and far between.

With a smaller slate, there will be fewer ways to build tonight. My prominent bats to focus on will be the Twins and Orioles, but then the Marlins and Tigers make for some sneakier stacks. Finally, the contrarian looks maybe the Cardinals and Rays if you want to attack Logan Webb or Robbie Ray. It should be another fun slate, so listen to MLB DFS Quick Hits to get the full slate preview.

This article will provide my daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for Fanduel and DraftKings on 5/5/2022. The lineup will range from some elite players to mid-priced options and value plays. You can also read more DFS advice and lineup picks for other sports. It's also essential to monitor injury news and today's MLB starting lineups. DraftKings, FanDuel Pitchers - MLB DFS Lineup Picks

Shane McClanahan - P, TB at SEA ($9,700 DK, $10,100 FD)

McClanahan is the highest-priced pitcher tonight, and for a good reason; he may have the highest ceiling on the slate. This season, McClanahan has thrown at least five innings in three straight starts, with at least seven strikeouts in all five starts. The strikeout upside has been tremendous for McClanahan regarding DFS scoring. He will face a Mariners team tonight who strikes out around 21% of the time versus LHP and has hit decently versus lefties this season. McClanahan is a different break, so load up on the Rays lefty and build from there.

Aaron Nola - P, PHI vs. NYM ($8,000 DK, $9,900 FD)

Nola can be a frustrating pitcher to the roster, but he usually throws 5+ innings and racks up strikeouts which score in DFS. Nola also does not get shelled often. He may give up a few runs, but with the strikeouts still finds his way to 20+ DK points more often than not. Nola has pitched at least six innings in his last two starts, with nine strikeouts in each start. That last start was against the Mets, who he will look to dominate again. He is far too cheap on DK, so play some discounted Nola as an SP2 or a sneaky SP1 on FD.

Other options: Jesus Luzardo at SD ($8,500 DK, $9,100 FD), Miles Mikolas at SF ($8,200 DK, $9,600 FD), Tarik Skubal at HOU ($6,500 DK, $9,400 FD)

DraftKings, FanDuel Infielders - MLB DFS Lineup Picks

Trey Mancini - 1B/OF, BAL vs. Chris Archer ($3,000 DK, $2,700 FD)

Mancini started the season slowly, but his underlying metrics led us to expect a coming-out party. That is happening as he went 3-4 on Wednesday and has hit safely in five of his last seven games for a batting average of around .300. In addition, Mancini is barreling the ball 10% of the time with a 50% hard-hit rate over this stretch. He will face Archer tonight, who has not thrown more than four innings this season while walking three batters and giving up a home run in each of his last three starts. Mancini should be in for another big night ahead.

Jazz Chisholm Jr. - 2B/SS, MIA at Nick Martinez ($5,700 DK, $3,300 FD)

Chisholm has been red hot to start the season and has earned the high price tag tonight. On Wednesday, he went 2-4 and is now riding a seven-game hitting streak into tonight's action. Chisholm has three extra-base hits and a stolen base over the streak. He has a 50% hard-hit rate to go with a .922 OPS. Tonight he gets a nice matchup versus Martinez, who has allowed five home runs while walking 11 over his last three starts. Martinez also allows LHH to slug .513 on the season with 2.7 HR/9. Chisholm is worth the pay-up tonight, and the Marlins make for a sneaky stack versus Martinez.

Alec Bohm- 3B, PHI vs. Taijuan Walker ($3,600 DK, $2,900 FD)

Before going 0-5 on Wednesday, Bohm was raking. Bohm had hit safely in six of seven starts which were good for a .333 average. Bohm also has a home run and a stolen base over the seven-game stretch. Bohm has hit first and second over the last two games to make his fantasy value slightly better. He faces Walker tonight. Walker will be making his third start and is still being stretched out, which means more Mets bullpen. Bohm and the Phillies are a contrarian look tonight, and Bohm is an excellent value if once again hitting towards the top of the batting order.

Carlos Correa- SS, MIN at Spenser Watkins ($4,600 DK, $3,200 FD)

Correa hit a home run on Wednesday night and now brings a seven-game hitting streak into tonight's game versus the Orioles. Correa is hitting over .450 during this streak with four extra-base hits and striking out around 10% of the time. He is barreling the ball over 12% with a close to 60% hard-hit rate. Correa is mashing and gets a great matchup versus Watkins tonight, who has a 2.55 ERA this season, but a 5.17 FIP and .211 BABIP would lead one to believe some massive regression is coming Watkins's way. Load up on the Twins tonight.

DraftKings, FanDuel Outfielders - MLB DFS Lineup Picks

Cedric Mullins- OF, BAL vs. Chris Archer ($4,200 DK, $3,200 FD)

Mullins homered on Wednesday night and has now hit safely in eight of his last ten games. He is hitting .289 over that stretch with five extra-base hits and two stolen bases. Mullins is striking out less than 14% of the time while racking up a .156 ISO. It gets a great matchup tonight versus Archer. This season, Mullins may not have the best batting average versus (.299 last season) but does have an ISO of .207 and is heating up. Mullins is one of my favorite plays on this slate.

Trevor Larnach - OF, MIN at Spenser Watkins ($2,500 DK, $2,400)

If looking for value, look no further than Larnach. First, he is facing Watkins which is outstanding. Second, he has been swinging a hot bat since getting recalled from Triple-A. Larnach has hit safely in six of his last eight games, with multiple hits in four games and a .385 batting average. Larnach has five doubles with a 12.5% barrel rate and 62.5% hard-hit rate. He has a .625 BABIP and still strikes out 35% of the time, so regression is coming. Bur, for now, ride the hot streak in DFS, especially with the value he brings.

Chas McCormick- OF, HOU vs. Tarik Skubal ($3,000 DK, $2,700 FD)

With Jose Altuve injuring his "groin" on Wednesday, we should see McCormick back in the leadoff spot for the Astros. He hit safely in each of his last five games leading off before Altuve returned from injury, so hopefully, his bat heats back up. McCormick has four extra-base hits with a 12.5% walk rate and a 12.5% strikeout rate over those five games. He faces the lefty Skubal tonight, and on the season, McCormick is hitting .304 versus LHP.

DraftKings, FanDuel MLB DFS Stacks

GAME STACK: Minnesota Twins at Baltimore Orioles (Chris Archer, RHP at Spenser Watkins, RHP)

If you couldn't tell by now, I love this game. Two pitchers we can attack. The Twins are my favorite side of this stack with Byron Buxton and Carlos Correa, maybe a value catcher in Ryan Jeffers, and the lefties in Larnach and Jorge Polanco. The O's are as live with Mullins and Mancini but do not forget some value with Ryan Mountcastle, Rougned Odor, and others.

Miami Marlins at San Diego Padres (Nick Martinez, RHP)

The Marlins could be in for a fun one if Martinez has control issues again. In games, he has walked too many. He starts grooving it and gives up the long ball. Chisholm is the lock-in play and piece around him with value pieces from the Marlins' offense.
