DraftKings, FanDuel Daily Fantasy Baseball Picks (4/8/23): MLB DFS Lineups

Max Muncy - Fantasy Baseball Rankings, Draft Sleepers, MLB Injury News

The top daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for FanDuel and DraftKings on April 8th, 2023. John Brubaker's MLB DFS analysis and sleepers for building optimal DFS rosters.

Happy Saturday RotoBallers, and happy baseball season! This is John Brubaker dropping some of my favorite plays for today's slate! I'm so excited that MLB DFS back, and here's a chance to start the season off on the right foot! We have a pretty different slate tonight relative to last week, with the first difference it being, well a night slate. It's also a relatively small main slate, with only six games on tap. It's also a Coors slate, so we'll have to take that into account.

We don't have any slate differences today, which is always a good thing. That way I don't have to make selections that may be on one slate and not the other. I have big ideas for this slate, so let's get right to it. I would like to note, my writeups will get a bit more detailed as the season goes on, as I'm still making adjustments to my projection model this early on in the season.

This article will provide my daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for DraftKings and FanDuel on 4/1/2023 and the slate locking at 7:10 pm ET. The lineup picks will range from some elite players to mid-priced options, and value plays. You can also read more DFS advice and lineup picks for other sports here. It's also essential to monitor injury news and today's MLB starting lineups. Now that we got all of that out of the way, it's onto the picks!

DraftKings, FanDuel Pitchers - MLB DFS Lineup Picks

Jordan Montgomery, STL at MIL ($8,300 DK, $9,200 FD)

I'll start off by saying this slate is... interesting from a pitching perspective. I'll start off with Jordan Montgomery, who takes on a Brewers lineup that has started the season on a hot streak offensively. It was a tale of two starts for Montgomery in Milwaukee last season. He tossed six innings of shutout ball with eight strikeouts on August 12. The following month, he got touched up for six runs (four earned) across five innings. He projects a 3.43 xFIP and 22.54% strikeout rate in this one.

Jhony Brito, NYY at BAL ($7,000 DK, $7,100 FD)

I'll dig in the bargain bin for my SP2 today, looking at Jhony Brito. Brito was excellent in his first career start, tossing five shutout innings while allowing just two hits and striking out six against the Giants last Sunday. He'll have a tough matchup against the Orioles who, similarly to the Brewers, have started off this season hot offensively. There's nothing much to say here, but I'll take a shot at a guy who's super cheap with a decent (albeit short) track record to start his season.

Also consider: Charlie Morton, Trevor Williams

DraftKings, FanDuel Infielders - MLB DFS Lineup Picks

Joey Meneses - 1B, WSH vs. Austin Gomber ($4,900 DK, $3,600 FD)

I'll head out to Coors for the first hitter of the day. Joey Meneses has started off the season slow after having an awesome showing in the WBC, but it's just to fade such a good hitter playing in Coors. He hasn't faced Gomber yet but does project to a .358 wOBA, 36.09% hard contact rate, and .346 wOBA against Gomber's pitch types.

Max Muncy - 3B, LAD vs. Zach Davies ($4,800 DK, $3,100 FD)

I'll take a look at Max Muncy next. Muncy, like Meneses, has had a slow start to the season. He's hitting just .115 but has an opportunity to turn it around this evening against Zach Davies, who he's 4-16 against with a double. He's projected to a .328 wOBA, 39.1% hard contact rate, and .354 wOBA against Davies's pitch types. He's a really solid play, particularly on FanDuel, where his price is relatively cheap.

Matt Carpenter - 1B/3B, SD vs. Charlie Morton ($3,200 DK, $2,300 FD)

I'll wrap things up with Matt Carpenter as a value play. If you want to pivot off of one of the two players I have listed above, why not take a look at Carpenter who's dirt cheap on both sites? Carpenter is 7-18 against Charlie Morton for his career, with two doubles and a triple. While his data projections are a little juiced due to his scorching hot streak last season, he still projects to a .446 wOBA 45.5% hard contact rate, and .370 wOBA against Morton's pitch types.

DraftKings, FanDuel Outfielders - MLB DFS Lineup Picks

Aaron Judge - OF, NYY vs. Cole Irvin ($6,500 DK, $4,300 FD)

I'll start off the outfielders with Aaron Judge against Cole Irvin. Judge is hitting .296 with two homers this season, and looks to have a big night against the southpaw. Judge is just 1-2 with a walk against Irvin, but projects to a .482 wOBA, 53.29%(!!!) hard contact rate, and .489 wOBA against Irvin's pitch types. He won't come cheap, but he's the highest-projected player on the whole slate.

James Outman - OF, LAD vs. Zach Davies ($3,400 DK, $2,900 FD)

I'll take a look at James Outman next. Outman is proving to be a very good hitter for the Dodgers and is coming off a game where he hit a homer last night. Outman is 0-1 against Davies for his short career but will look to get after him tonight. He's projected to a .327 wOBA, 37.79% hard contact rate, and .310 wOBA against Davies's pitch types.

Jordan Luplow - OF, TOR vs. Tyler Anderson ($2,o00 DK, $2,500 FD)

I'll wrap things up with one of my favorite "lefty killers" in baseball, Jordan Luplow. The "lefty killer" tag is starting to fade, though, considering he hit just .171 across 127 plate appearances against lefties last season. He's 1-8 off of Anderson, but projects as one of the top values on the slate, and at min price on DK, he's worth a shot.

DraftKings, FanDuel MLB DFS Stacks

Los Angeles Dodgers vs. Zach Davies

I'll start off looking at stacks with the Dodgers. This is an interesting spot, as Davies has pitched well against the Dodgers in his career, most recently tossing five innings of one-run ball on Sunday. The model projects the Dodgers as the top stack on the slate, with a projected .328 wOBA and 37.79% hard contact rate as a team.

Favorite Plays: Mookie Betts, Freddie Freeman, Max Muncy, J.D. Martinez, James Outman

Colorado Rockies vs. Trevor Williams

I'll wrap things up with the Rockies in Coors. While I didn't name any Rockies in this article specifically, I think they're a good shout against Trevor Williams and the Nats. The slight issue I have with going all in on them on this slate is Williams's ability to get ground balls, but if the Rockies can get the ball in the air, they should be able to score some runs. Colorado projects to a .315 wOBA and 35.89% hard contact rate as a team.

Favorite Plays: Jurickson Profar, Kris Bryant, Charlie Blackmon, C.J. Cron

Also Consider: Washington Nationals, New York Yankees
