DraftKings, FanDuel Daily Fantasy Baseball Picks (10/23/22): Today's Top MLB DFS Lineups

Zack Wheeler - Fantasy Baseball Rankings, Draft Sleepers, MLB Injury nNews

The top daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for FanDuel and DraftKings on October 23, 2022. Mike Marteny's MLB DFS analysis and sleepers for building optimal DFS rosters.

We don't have to deal with just a showdown slate today! Both of the League Championship Series are in action today. The Astros will try to sweep the Yankees in the Bronx with the same pitcher that completed the sweep of Seattle.

The Phillies have won the first two games at home and now get a chance to close out San Diego in Philly tonight. We might not have any baseball for a couple of days if the Phillies and Astros win.

As always, this article will provide my daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for DraftKings and FanDuel. Sunday's main slate locks at 2:37 pm EST on 10/23/2022. The lineup picks will range from some elite high-priced players to mid-priced options and value plays. I'll give you a few of my top pitching options and then some infielders, outfielders, and teams to stack! You can also read more DFS advice and lineup picks for other sports here. It's also essential to monitor injury news and today's MLB starting lineups. Now that we got all of that out of the way, it's onto the picks!

DraftKings, FanDuel Pitchers - MLB DFS Lineup Picks

Zack Wheeler vs. SD ($7,800 DK, $10,200 FD)

Wheeler is way too cheap on DraftKings. He's no longer on any sort of pitch count and dominated the Padres in Game 1, allowing just one hit and one walk in seven scoreless innings while striking out eight. He also blanked the Padres for seven innings earlier this year while striking out nine. Oh...and his ERA is a run and a half lower at home this season. Wheeler is a lock on DraftKings and the cash play on FD.

Lance McCullers Jr. at NYY ($7,500 DK, $10,700 FD)

Again, McCullers is much more attractive on DK. I could make an active case for either NLCS pitcher over paying up for McCullers there. McCullers has had a strong year since returning from injury in the middle of August and the current Yankees are only hitting .208 with a pair of homers in 53 at-bats against Lance in his career. The strikeout rate is a little low at 23.4%, which is why I wouldn't pay the FD premium.

Also consider: Nestor Cortes

DraftKings, FanDuel Infielders - MLB DFS Lineup Picks

Rhys Hoskins - 1B, PHI vs. Yu Darvish ($4,400 DK, $3,200 FD)

Hoskins finally showed up for the playoffs yesterday, smashing two homers in the Game 4 victory. Few people were in that well yesterday, but it could be crowded today. We all know what Hoskins is capable of and he is still reasonably priced on both sites. Maybe he has turned a corner. If he has, this could be another productive game since he is 6-for-19 with two doubles and a homer against Darvish in his career.

Alex Bregman - 3B, HOU at Nestor Cortes ($4,700 DK, $3,700 FD)

I want to ride Machado again today, but Wheeler has gotten the best of him too many times to pay that much for him. Instead, I'll back Bregman against Cortes, who managed to hit against him well. Bregman is 3-for-6 with a homer off of Cortes and has four hits in the first three games of the series so far. I like Cortes as a contrarian GPP play, but it's tough because of all the righties that Houston can throw at him.

Jeremy Pena - SS, HOU at Gerrit Cole ($3,900 DK, $3,300 FD)

Pena drew the collar last night for the first time in the playoffs and his price increased on both sites. Go figure. Still, this could be a rough outing for Cortes with these righties. Considering Pena's playoff performance so far, I'm not going to sour on his collar against Gerrit Cole, who is still one of the best in the business. I like the bounce-back tonight.

DraftKings, FanDuel Outfielders - MLB DFS Lineup Picks

Kyle Schwarber - OF, PHI vs. Yu Darvish ($5,400 DK, $4,100 FD)

It's a bit of a toss-up between Schwarber and Harper today. Both have hit Darvish well and both have been hot lately. I'll take the discount with Schwarber today since he has three homers in the four games of this series. He has also been better than Harper against Darvish in his career. Schwarber is 4-for-11 with a pair of homers against Darvish. Harper is only 2-for-9, but both hits are homers.

Juan Soto - OF, SD at Zack Wheeler ($5,300 DK, $3,600 FD)

I'm not going after Wheeler, but if anyone is going to get to him, it will likely be Soto. Soto is 11-for-40 with a pair of homers against Wheeler in his career. With ownership likely spiking on Wheeler tonight, using Soto in a GPP is a way to get different. His homer last night was his sixth in his postseason career already. The spotlight isn't too bright for Soto. If the Padres are to stave off elimination, they need a big game from Soto.

Harrison Bader - OF, NYY vs. Cristian Javier ($3,200 DK, $2,900 FD)

Bader has been the unlikely masher for the Bombers in the playoffs. Bader has four homers in the eight playoff games with five runs scored and five RBI. Cleveland did manage to keep him off the bases in Game 2, but that's the only time that feat has been accomplished so far. Even in a dominant performance by Javier yesterday, Bader mustered a single and a walk. He's basically free points right now.

DraftKings, FanDuel MLB DFS Stacks

Here is my top stack for tonight:

Philadelphia Phillies - I'm not stacking against Yu Darvish because I think he will allow the most runs. I'm stacking because the Phillies have hit him reasonably well and he has allowed five homers in two playoff starts this year. Sure, it's the only runs he has allowed, but solo homers still score well enough for us to cash. Even if a couple of my Phillies get goose-eggs, if we get a couple of homers from the others, it pays off. I'm playing numbers with Yu's gopheritis here.

Honorable mention: Houston Astros

I hope I gave you a head start on your research today and I wish you the best of luck! If you ever have questions about DFS or fantasy baseball, my DMs are always open and I appreciate you taking the time to read my picks today.
