DraftKings, FanDuel Daily Fantasy Baseball Picks (10/22/22): Today's Top MLB DFS Lineups

Cristian Javier Shane McClanahan - Fantasy Baseball Rankings, Draft Sleepers, MLB Injury News, Starting Pitchers

The top daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for FanDuel and DraftKings on October 22, 2022. Mike Marteny's MLB DFS analysis and sleepers for building optimal DFS rosters.

We don't have to deal with just a showdown slate today! Both of the League Championship Series are in action today. The Astros try to take a 3-0 lead as the ALCS heads to New York after a Houston sweep at home.

The Phillies picked up the win in Game 3 last night in Philly to take a 2-1 series lead over the Padres. They try for the commanding lead at home in the nightcap.

As always, this article will provide my daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for DraftKings and FanDuel. Friday's main slate locks at 5:07 pm EST on 10/15/2022. The lineup picks will range from some elite high-priced players to mid-priced options and value plays. I'll give you a few of my top pitching options and then some infielders, outfielders, and teams to stack! You can also read more DFS advice and lineup picks for other sports here. It's also essential to monitor injury news and today's MLB starting lineups. Now that we got all of that out of the way, it's onto the picks!

DraftKings, FanDuel Pitchers - MLB DFS Lineup Picks

Gerrit Cole vs. HOU ($9,800 DK, $10,500 FD)

Cole was lights out against Cleveland in the Division Series, winning both of his starts while allowing three runs in 13.1 innings with 16 strikeouts. He was also great against Houston in his only start against his former team this season. Cole allowed a solo homer – more on that later – in seven innings while striking out eight. So we can infer that Cole is going to strike out eight in a strong start here in Game 3. Of course, nothing is certain in baseball, but Cole provides the best floor out there tonight.

Cristian Javier at NYY ($8,400 DK, $9,200 FD)

Let's face it: the pitching matchup in the NLCS is gross. The Phillies are sending a rookie to the mound. Clevinger was mauled by the Dodgers and then landed on the COVID list. That's how his 2022 playoffs have gone so far. Due to this, I'm using one or both pitchers from the ALCS, depending on which site I play on. I could gamble on the Phillies bullpen after Thor, but Javier seems the safer bet.

He was dominant in both starts against the Yankees this season. Javier only allowed one run –a solo homer to Isiah Kiner-Falefa – in 12 innings. That doesn't tell the entire story of Javier's dominance. The 16 strikeouts come close, but Javier allowed just two hits in those 12 innings. I don't expect the same kind of dominance –the playoffs are just different in Yankee Stadium – but I do expect Javier to have another strong outing.

Also consider: Bailey Falter

DraftKings, FanDuel Infielders - MLB DFS Lineup Picks

Josh Bell - 1B, SD at Bailey Falter ($3,500 DK, $3,000 FD)

Bell is familiar with Falter from his time in Washington to start the season. He faced him in two games, going 4-for-5 with a pair of homers. I love the discount on DK with Bell. He has shown signs of life in the NLCS with a homer in Game 2 after a dreadful series against the Dodgers. Bell is my favorite hitter play of the night considering the price.

Manny Machado - 3B, SD at Bailey Falter ($5,700 DK, $4,000 FD)

The Phillies are the only team to keep Machado off base in a playoff game this season..and they did it twice in both Games 1 and 3. In Game 2, Machado went 3-for-5 with a homer. If this turns into a bullpen game, that favors Machado. He's starting against a lefty, which also slightly favors Machado. If the Padres are to even the series, Machado will likely be why.

Jeremy Pena - SS, HOU at Gerrit Cole ($3,800 DK, $2,900 FD)

Pena has caught fire for the Astros in the playoffs. He is hitting .333 with a pair of solo homers and five runs scored against the Mariners and Yankees so far. Pena has a hit in every playoff game and I like him to keep that going tonight.

DraftKings, FanDuel Outfielders - MLB DFS Lineup Picks

Bryce Harper - OF, PHI vs. Mike Clevinger ($5,900 DK, $4,300 FD)

We get a nice little discount on Harper on FanDuel and I'm not sure why. He has a hit in every game since drawing the collar in Game 1 of the Wild Card series against the Cardinals. Since then, Harper is 14-for-35 with four homers, eight RBI, and eight runs scored. The Phillies are going to get on base against Clevinger and it's likely the red-hot Harper will be one of them.

Yordan Alvarez - OF, HOU vs. Gerrit Cole ($5,600 DK, $4,500 FD)

Cole has allowed at least one home run in every start since August 20. Yordan is the only current Astro to hit a home run off of Cole. He has two of them – his only two career hits against Cole in ten tries. It's a strong bet that Yordan is the guy that takes him deep tonight. History says that someone will.

Harrison Bader - OF, NYY vs. Cristian Javier ($3,200 DK, $2,900 FD)

Bader has been the unlikely masher for the Bombers in the playoffs. Bader has four homers in the seven playoff games with five runs scored and five RBI. Cleveland did manage to keep him off the bases in Game 2, but that's the only time that feat has been accomplished so far. I do like Javier quite a bit today, but Bader should still get on base against the bullpen if nothing else.

DraftKings, FanDuel MLB DFS Stacks

Here is my top stack for tonight:

Philadelphia Phillies - Mike Clevinger has given up five runs or more in five of seven starts since the beginning of September. He didn't close the season strong, got hammered by the Dodgers, and has been sick for the last several days. Things are not lining up well for Clevinger. Harper and Kyle Schwarber are the obvious targets, but Alec Bohm has shown signs of life with a pair of RBI in the NLCS so far. Jean Segura has been solid throughout the playoffs as well.

Honorable mention: San Diego Padres
