DraftKings Daily Fantasy Baseball Picks (9/14/18): MLB DFS Lineups

The top daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for DraftKings on September 14th, 2018. Adam Meyer's MLB DFS analysis and sleepers for building optimal DFS rosters.

We have a full, 15-game slate on Friday night and, hopefully, weather won’t be a problem. There are four games with an over/under of at least nine total runs. The CWS/BAL matchup is the leader in the clubhouse with 9.5 projected total runs.

As far as pitching is concerned, two teams are heavy favorites (-200 odds, or greater): the Cubs and Yankees. Also, two games have an over/under below eight total runs: LAD/STL and COL/SF. Bottom line, there’s options when it comes to pitchers on Friday night.

In this article, I will be providing you with my daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for DraftKings on 9/14/18. The lineup picks will range from some of the elite players to mid-priced options and value plays. You can also read more DFS advice and lineup picks for sites like FanDuel, and other sports too. If you have any questions or comments, feel free to hit me up on Twitter @CharlieSideHstl.

DraftKings DFS Starting Pitchers

Walker Buehler, LAD (@ STL) - $10,100

There are some pricey options in the starting pitcher pool on Friday, but a bargain in Buehler. He’s the third-most expensive arm in the slate and he could end the day as the best pitcher on the docket. Buehler has allowed two earned runs, or less, in seven of the past eight appearances, including a

Josh Tomlin, CLE (vs. DET) - $5,500

When a pitcher is as cheap as Tomlin is, $5,500, but on a team with a strong chance to win, you need to highly consider the option. According to Vegas, Cleveland is a -180 favorite agisnt the Tigers. Tomlin hasn’t pitched more than three innings since May 15th. Terry Francona is lining up his postseason rotation, so Corey Kluber is bumped back. As for the Tigers, they are 29th in team wOBA (.293) against right-handed pitchers this season. Detroit has also scored 571 runs in 146 games (25th in MLB). Making the move to Tomlin allows you to add some powerful bats in your DK lineup.

DraftKings DFS Infielders

C - Yan Gomes, CLE (vs. DET) - $3,700

The Indians are projected to score the second-most runs on Friday night (5.2 runs) and Gomes should be at the forefront of the damage. In the past week, Gomes is 6-for-17 (.353) with two home runs. Since 2017, Gomes has the second-best ISO against left-handed hitters at .239. He was the leader until Josh Donaldson came to town (more on him later). Gomes had the night off on Wednesday, and no game on Thursday, so he should be rested and ready to go on Friday night.

1B - Luke Voit, NYY (vs. TOR) - $3,900

The team that leads the slate with 5.7 projected runs on Friday night is the Yankees. Voit has only tallied two hits in the past four combined games, but he’s homered three times in the last nine starts. Marco Estrada is on the hill for Toronto on Friday. He’s allowed at least four earned runs in four of the past six appearances. In his lone start at Yankee Stadium this season, Estrada allowed five earned runs in five innings of action.

2B - Daniel Murphy, CHC (vs. CIN) - $3,900

Murphy’s bat isn’t hot (only two hits in the past 20 at-bats), but he has past success against Matt Harvey. In his career, Murphy is 5-for-13 (.385) with three extra-base hits and two home runs when Harvey is on the hill.

3B - Josh Donaldson, CLE (vs. DET) - $4,200

I mentioned earlier that the “Bringer of Rain” leads the Indians with a .320 ISO against southpaws (since 2017). He hasn’t notched his first hit as a Cleveland Indians (0-for-5) and Friday would be a great night to start. This season, Donaldson is batting .279 against left-handed pitchers, as opposed to his .202 AVG against righties in 2018.

SS - Adalberto Mondesi, KC (vs. MIN) - $4,400

Mondesi is making the most of his playing time. In September, he’s batting .317 with three doubles in 13 hits (one home run, too). In the past three games, Mondesi is 7-for-14 (.500) with one double, four RBI, and two stolen bases.

DraftKings DFS Outfielders

Juan Soto, WSH (@ ATL) - $5,100

Now, it’s time to start spending the leftover salary that we saved from the pitcher position. In the past seven days, Soto is 8-for-22 (.364) with one double and three home runs. Those three home runs have come in the past three games.

Giancarlo Stanton, NYY (vs. TOR) - $4,700

The next big bat to add is Stanton. Though he’s 2-for-21 (.095) in the past seven games, I treat that as the “bright side” since his price tag has dropped to below $5K. In his career, Stanton is 7-for-20 (.350) with three doubles and four home runs against Estrada.

Lorenzo Cain, MIL (vs. PIT) - $4,500

One more hot bat to add to your DK lineup on Friday is Cain. In the past week, he’s 10-for-25 (.400) with one walk. Also, in his career, Cain is 8-for-16 (.500) with one double, one triple, and one home run against Chris Archer.
