DraftKings Daily Fantasy Baseball Picks (8/4/20) - MLB DFS Lineups

The top daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for DraftKings on 8/4/20. Brian Entrekin's MLB DFS analysis and sleepers for building optimal DFS rosters.

We head into Tuesday night with a ten-game slate on tap and plenty of nice targets for your DraftKings lineups. Coors Field should be alive and well with Kevin Gausman pitching for the Giants and German Marquez for the Rockies. There are some other nice spots to target bats as well with the Angels, Astros, Braves, and more.

When looking at the slate there are a handful of pitchers in play. The question will be to pay up for the top-priced options or take a chance with the middle and lower-priced range arms. There are plenty of value bats if you want to pay up for pitching, but tonight is a night where that may not be necessary.

In this article, I will be providing you with my daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for DraftKings on 8/4/2020. The lineup picks will range from some of the elite players to mid-priced options and value plays. You can also read more DFS advice and lineup picks for sites like FanDuel, and other sports too. DraftKings DFS Starting Pitchers

Kyle Hendricks - P, CHC vs KC ($7,700)

It has been a tale of two starts for Hendricks to start the 2020 season. His first outing was a complete game shutout on Opening Day vs the Brewers, but then followed it up only going 4.1 innings and allowing six runs at the Reds. Tonight he has a matchup at home vs the Royals and that may be just the ticket to get right. Early on the Royals have struggled vs RHP hitting only .223 and striking out almost 25% of the time. Hendricks returns to Wrigley Field where he had a 2.04 ERA, 3.68 xFIP, and an opponent batting average of .206 in 2019. Bounce back is coming and for only $7,700 is will be hard to pass up.

John Means - P, BAL vs MIA ($6,400)

Means missed his first trip through the rotation with arm fatigue and may have wished he missed the second time through as the Yankees lit him up for five earned runs in 2.1 innings. He threw 51 pitches in the outing and we should expect closer to 70-75 tonight. That should be plenty of pitches vs a Marlins team who has not played in a week and will be fielding a mighty new roster. Last season Means was quite effective at home, allowing a .207 batting average against a .258 wOBA. Look for means to hopefully make it five innings while racking up strikeouts vs a depleted Marlins lineup.

DraftKings DFS Infielders

Pedro Severino - C, BAL vs Caleb Smith ($4,100)

Severino has hit safely in five of seven games this season including home runs in two of his last four games. Tonight he goes up against fly ball pitcher Caleb Smith at home and that is a recipe for his third or fourth home run in the last five games. Last year Severino hit .273 with a .217 ISO and will look to continue those strong numbers in 2020.

Other Options: Chadwick Tromp (SF at COL) $3,500

Jesus Aguilar - 1B, MIA at John Means ($4,000)

Even though I think Means is a nice punt arm tonight, I am also a realist and realize Aguilar as a nice power bat at Camden Yards. Means has been known to give up the long ball from time to time at home and to right-handed hitters. Aguilar had a down 2019 across the board, but looking back at previous seasons he hit .301 and .282 vs LHP with ISO of .223 and .267. Aguilar will be low owned and in line for GPP value tonight.

Other Options: Freddie Freeman (ATL vs TOR) %5,100, Daniel Murphy (COL vs SF) $4,500, Ryan O'Hearn (KC at CHC) $2,600

Hanser Alberto - 2B, BAL vs Caleb Smith ($3,600)

Talk about value and/or a cash game lock tonight, give me some Hanser Alberto vs an LHP. Last season Alberto hit .398 vs LHP and that has not slowed down this season. As a whole, Alberto is just en Fuego. He has hit safely in seven of eight games this season, good for a .429 average. He has even thrown in three doubles, two home runs, and a stolen base along the way. He has a nice matchup vs Smith tonight and is in for another big night.

Other Options: Jose Altuve (HOU at AZ) $5,100, Ryan McMahon (COL vs SF) $4,600, Chris Owings (COL vs SF) $3,200, Jason Kipnis (CHC vs KC) $3,000

Anthony Rendon - 3B, LAA at Justin Dunn ($5,400)

I try not to write up too many high priced targets as I respect the reader's ability to see the "captain obvious" type plays. I wanted to mention Rendon here as he can easily be overlooked tonight. He is only hitting .200 on the season, with only four total hits and one home run through six games. The average may not be much, but he does have a .467 OBP and a .200 ISO meaning he is getting on base and hitting the ball extremely well. He needs to be apart of Angels stacks tonight as they should get to Dunn tonight in Trout's return with the baby swag. Do not forget Rendon tonight.

Other Options: Alex Bregman (HOU at AZ) $5,000, Ian Happ (CHC vs KC) $3,900

Corey Seager - SS, LAD at Dinelson Lamet ($4,600)

Seager continues to be quite a surprise in 2020. Seager returned last night after a little injury scare and added two more hits to give him hits in six straight games and nine of his last ten. He is also hitting the ball harder, more often than anyone in baseball with the most balls hit 95+MPH with 21. He has a tough matchup vs Lamet tonight who has been strong to start the season, but he has not found many pitchers to stop him yet and will get some at-bats vs the bullpen. Seager is a nice GPP play tonight that will be low owned.

Other Options: Fernando Tatis Jr. (SD at SEA) $5,200, J.P. Crawford (SEA vs LAA) $3,800

DraftKings DFS Outfielders

Trent Grisham - OF, SD vs Dustin May ($4,300)

Can't stop, won't stop. That should be the slogan for Trent Grisham. Last night he continued to rake with two more hits including a home run vs Walker Buehler. Tonight he faces Dustin May who went 3.1 innings in his last start and has not completed five innings yet to start the season. Grisham is filling the stat sheets with extra-base hits, stolen bases, and more to give you all the fantasy goodness. He is in play again tonight and makes for nice cash gameplay if you don't want to pay up in the outfield.

Teoscar Hernandez - OF, TOR at Max Fried ($3,800)

Coming into the season, everyone could agree Hernandez hit the ball extremely hard, but had a lot of swing and miss in his swing leading to batting average concerns. Well, to start the year he is striking out 29% of the time, but when he puts the ball in play he is hitting .321 with a .500 ISO!!!! Tonight he has a tough matchup vs the lefty Fried, but there is room for some GPP appeal. Fried relies on getting a lot of ground balls but also gives up over 20% HR/FB in each of the last two seasons when the ball is elevated. Look for Hernandez to run into one and stay hot tonight.

Brian Goodwin - OF, LAA at Justin Dunn ($3,300)

Early, we discussed Rendon and an Angels stack with Trout back vs a not so great pitcher in Dunn. If stacking up, or looking for cash gameplay, look no further than Goodwin. Goodwin is off to a strong start to the season hitting .333, with a .333 ISO and five extra-base hits. Last year he had a .201 ISO vs RHP and will look to keep it going, making him a free square in cash tonight.

Other Options: Luis Robert (CWS at MIL) $4,100, Kyle Lewis (SEA vs LAA) $3,800, Matt Kemp (COL vs SF) $3,600
