DraftKings Daily Fantasy Baseball Picks (5/16/18): MLB DFS Lineups

We have somewhat of an odd Wednesday slate of games. There are two slates - early and late. The early slate has significantly more games, but the late slate, as always, is technically featured. I utilized players from both slates for this article to give you the optimal chance at cashing on both slates tonight.

In this article, I will be providing you with my daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for DraftKings on 5/16/18. The lineup picks will range from some of the elite players to mid-priced options and value plays.

You can also read more DFS advice and lineup picks for sites like FanDuel, and other sports too. If you have any questions or comments, feel free to hit me up on Twitter @BalesSJustin.

DraftKings Starting Pitchers

Chris Sale - P, vs OAK ($11,800)

Sale has been playing at a high level recently, scoring 40.7 and 37.6 DK points in his last two starts. In those games, he has allowed four earned runs, while striking out 27 batters in 16 innings. He gets a matchup against a boom or bust offense against the Oakland A's, and Sale is a -250 favorite in a game set at 8.5 runs.

Walker Buehler - P, at MIA ($8,500)

Buehler has looked outstanding through four starts, recording a 2-1 record, 1.64 ERA, and 1.00 WHIP. He has also recorded a dominant 11.1 K/9 in those games. He gets a great matchup against the Miami Marlins, who currently rank last on the slate in team wOBA. Buehler will also be throwing in a pitcher friendly stadium, and he is a -155 favorite in a game set at 7.5 runs.

DraftKings Infielders

Buster Posey - C, vs CIN ($3,900)

Posey has been on of the hottest players in the MLB over his last 10 games, recording a .400 average with a .525 slugging percentage and a .992 OPS over that span. He's also hitting .400 with an OPS north of 1.100 through 15 home games. He gets a good matchup against Matt Harvey, who has largely struggled this season, and Posey can be used in all leagues.

Brandon Belt - 1B, vs CIN ($4,000)

Belt continues to play well at home, hitting .333 with a .614 slugging percentage and a 1.063 OPS through 16 games in San Francisco. In those games, Belt has nine extra-base hits and 11 RBIs. He gets a great matchup against Matt Harvey, and Belt features 0.068 wOBA and 0.077 ISO differentials against righties. He can be used in all leagues tonight.

Asdrubal Cabrera - 2B, vs TOR ($3,800)

Cabrera has been playing at a high level the entire season. Overall, he is hitting .329 with 19 extra-base hits (six home runs) and 23 RBIs. He has been a consistent player on the New York Mets, and he gets a decent matchup against J.A. Happ. Cabrera has been a more consistent option against left-handed pitching, and he can be used in all leagues on this slate.

Daniel Descalso - 3B, vs MIL ($3,300)

Descalso is an extremely cheap option, who has been on fire over his last 10 games. Over that span, he's hitting .310 with a .586 slugging percentage and a 1.015 OPS. Overall, he has six extra-base hits and four RBIs in those games. He has also been a better hitter at home this season, and he's a great salary relief option in all leagues on this slate.

Paul DeJong - SS, at MIN ($3,900)

DeJong has performed well on the road this season, recording a .288 road average. He also has hit 75% of his home runs on the road this season. He has found ways to stay consistent over his last 10 games, and he gets a good matchup against Lance Lynn tonight. DeJong has been a slightly more consistent hitter against righties, and he can be considered in all leagues.

DraftKings Outfielders

Tommy Pham - OF, at MIN ($5,000)

Pham has been playing at a high level through 19 road games this season. In those games, he is hitting .329 with a .521 slugging percentage and a .951 OPS. He has also been seeing the ball well recently, recording a 70% hard-hit rate with a 97 mph exit velocity over the last 15 days. He gets a great matchup against Lance Lynn, and Pham can be used in all leagues.

Brett Gardner - OF, at WAS ($2,900)

Gardner comes with a low price tag because he gets a matchup against Max Schrezer. Still, Gardner is hitting .289, while averaging 9.8 fantasy points per game over his last 10 games. He also features 0.088 wOBA and 0.099 ISO differentials against right-handed pitching. Gardner should only be used in GPPs because of the matchup, but he's a great option for how well he has been playing.
