DraftKings College Basketball DFS Lineup Picks for 1/21/23 - CBB Daily Fantasy Advice

Oscar Tshiebwe daily college fantasy basketball CFB DFS picks March Madness

Today's DraftKings college basketball DFS lineup picks for 1/21/23. Mike Marteny's CBB daily fantasy advice and lineup sleepers to help you win on DraftKings.

We are back up to a dozen games on tap for the main (early) Saturday tournaments on DraftKings. We have a smorgasbord of college basketball today, but this only covers the early part of the day. The nooners feature Ole Miss in Fayetteville. We also have Syracuse in Atlanta to take on the Wreck. The last noon tip is in Cameron Indoor with the Hurricanes visiting.

The afternoon starts with TCU heading to the Phog to take on the Jayhawks. Vanderbilt heads to Athens to take on the Dawgs. A&M is in Rupp Arena to take on a suddenly dangerous Kentucky team. Iowa State is in Gallagher-Iba to take on the Pokes. Iowa heads to Columbus to take on the Buckeyes. We have DePaul in Providence to take on the Friars. UCLA is in Tucson to take on the Wildcats. Virginia heads to Winston-Salem to take on Wake. We also have Texas Tech in the Octagon of Doom to take on K-State. This is going to be a fun one!

In this article, I will be providing you with my daily fantasy college basketball lineup picks for DraftKings on 1/21/23, starting at noon Eastern. I’ll provide multiple player suggestions at guard and forward, aiming to highlight one option at the high, middle, and lower end of the salary scale. Good luck, RotoBallers.

DraftKings CBB DFS Guards

Markquis Nowell, Kansas State ($9,400)

Nowell was putting up big stat lines because of his ability to get to the line. His numbers against Oklahoma State, Kansas, and TCU were way down because he shot five free throws combined in those three games. Now his price is down $1000, and his floor is still 26 DraftKings points. Texas Tech hasn't won a game this calendar year. We have a relatively cheap player on a team that can score points in bunches. I'm in on Nowell. Tech won't be able to cancel him out like Kansas did.

Devin Carter, Providence ($7,700)

Carter lit up the Blue Demons in Chicago in the first meeting, scoring 22 points and playing one of the finest defensive games of his career. It's foolish to project another five steals and four blocks, but the points should still be there. Even if Carter doesn't match those lofty numbers and hits his average in every other category, he'll do more than enough at this price. Carter hasn't had a game without a block since before Christmas and has only had one game without a steal in the last six weeks.

Caleb Murphy, DePaul ($4,700)

Murphy, the South Florida transfer, made his 2022-23 debut against Xavier after a wrist injury kept him sidelined for the start of the season. Predictably, he was limited to 23 minutes in his debut, but I liked what I saw. Murphy wasn't shy, hoisting up 12 shots and scoring eight points. He was predictably rusty, but if he's going to shoot that much, he has good upside for the price. Murphy averaged 11.4 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 3.4 assists in 31 games for USF last year.

Woody Newton, Oklahoma State ($3,700)

The Cowboys needed a spark and they have gotten that from Newton. He has provided good scoring and a handful of rebounds on the perimeter. He is still only playing around half the game, but if Bedlam was any indication, Newton is going to start taking some minutes away from struggling starters soon. He hit some big shots against the Sooners. I want to see him do it again before completely buying in, but at this price, it's really hard not to toss him into a GPP or three.

Also consider: Bryce Hopkins, Providence ($8,800); Tyree Appleby, Wake Forest ($8,700); Terry Roberts, Georgia ($7,800); Davonte Davis, Arkansas ($7,000); Jordan Wright, Vanderbilt ($6,500); Courtney Ramey, Arizona ($6,100); Tyrin Lawrence, Vanderbilt ($5,700); Sean McNeil, Ohio State ($5,000); Kyle Sturdivant, Georgia Tech ($4,500)

DraftKings CBB DFS Forwards

Oscar Tshiebwe, Kentucky ($10,700)

Basketball is much easier than Kentucky makes it out to be. They just need to do like they did against Georgia. Feed the big guy and get the hell out of the way. Tshiebwe made 12-of-20 shots from the floor and 13-of-18 from the stripe to finish with 37 points and a staggering 24 rebounds. He broke DFS slates from coast to coast with his 78 DraftKings points. No one else has that ceiling. No one else is even close.

Brice Sensabaugh, Ohio State ($8,000)

The Buckeyes may be losing (that's five straight if you're keeping track at home), but don't blame Sensabaugh. He has at least 33 DraftKings points in every one of those games. The guard play has been suspect for the Buckeyes, but Sensabaugh is dominating on the inside. I don't see that changing against Iowa. He's a lock in every cash lineup right now and I will be finding ways to cram both him and Tshiebwe into a few GPPs as well.

Ben Vander Plas, Virginia ($5,800)

The struggles of Kadin Shedrick have opened up a spot in the starting five for the Ohio transfer. Vander Plas has responded with 95 DraftKings points in his last three games. DraftKings was on top of this price increase but it's still not to the point that he's falling short of what we need from him. Vander Plas has strong games against Virginia Tech, Florida State, and North Carolina, so no, I'm not scared of Wake.

Osun Osunniyi, Iowa State ($4,700)

It took Osunniyi a few games, but he is starting to get more aggressive on the offensive end, and with Aljaz Kunc out, the Cyclones need it. Osunniyi has scored 25 points in the last two games while still adding his customary strong rebound totals and borderline elite rim protection. Oh, and those two games were against Kansas and Texas, so I believe this kind of production is sustainable. Oklahoma State likes to ugly up games, but we saw Oklahoma's Jalen Hill have a solid game against the Pokes on Tuesday. Osunniyi can do the same.

Also consider: Jalen Wilson, Kansas ($9,700); Jesse Edwards, Syracuse ($9,200); Norchad Omier, Miami ($8,500); Emanuel Miller, TCU ($7,600); Kalib Boone, Oklahoma State ($6,700); Jayveous McKinnis, Mississippi ($4,400); Tre King, Iowa State ($3,400)
