Daily Slivers of the Fantasy Soapbox - Yesterday's Recap

Ellis Canady reviews last night's MLB box scores (9/2) and provides fun opinions on a variety of topics to help fantasy baseball owners with their lineups.

Welcome to the Tuesday, September 3rd edition of Daily Slivers of the Fantasy Soapbox.

Discussing baseball is as fun as the game itself. It has a way of bringing people together to share different opinions about the sport we all love. A similar action can be done with fantasy baseball where we not only discuss topics but also look to improve our teams as well as the teams of our fellow fantasy baseball enthusiasts. Everyone has their own perspectives which are not to be cast off as frivolous. They should be used as a method of expanding our own knowledge.

In this article, I review the previous day's boxscores and provide my opinion on a variety of topics. Some will be random, some will be fun, and some will be stat-driven. It's a soapbox so I may rant from time to time as well. So without any further delay, below are my thoughts on September 3rd. Enjoy them. You can even respond with your own thoughts on Twitter @EllisCan2.

Be sure to check all of our fantasy baseball lineup tools and resources:

Daily Musings

  • Wins…they’re like Leprechauns riding unicorns. Magnificent. But you rarely catch a glimpse of such beauty.
  • Thor’s Golden Locks were magnificent. 7IP, 10K for Noah Syndergaard
  • After many years of moving, I don’t think I’ve perfected the integration process as well as Asdrubal Cabrera. 3HR, 22RBI, .333AVG last 15 days.
  • Trea Turner (30SB) will drop to end of 1st round in 2020. Yes, please.
  • Mike Minor handled the Yankees? Wait, half the lineup looks like a trash can punch. Unrecognizable but has some potency.
  • Damn Ryan Yarbrough. I walked away thinking a W was in the bag.
  • Anthony DeSclafani. I’m pleased w/your 7IP. You’ve been my ace for me. No W from you and I’m going hungry.
  • Austin Meadows. Your 25th HR is nice, but I like how you matched your fly ball & hard hit rates (43.9%).
  • "What’s all this excitement? I got double-digit dingers too.” ~ Miguel Cabrera rolling w/10.
  • Oooh-Weee! Mark Melancon striking out the side too. Eight saves in last 15 days. A lot of snooty people too good for him.
  • You want a guy dropping in 2020? Rhys Hoskins. 27HR, .241AVG. I’ll be buying the value.
  • Did you miss the Adam Wainwright streamer? It was nice.
  • Carlos Martinez firmly planted in my closer shopping list for 2020.
  • Roberto Osuna is not Gerrit Cole’s favorite person right about now.
  • Abraham Toro-Hernandez charging his way towards his first SB.
  • George Springer only has one SB since May 4th. 30HR, .296AVG is comforting. Yearning for more.
  • Ty France butters his fifth croissant. Trying to make me eat my words.
  • Please allow 30 minutes after Cal Quantrill’s outing before undergoing any activity.
  • YES! Ketel Marte(29) & Eduardo Escobar(33) keep driving the price up.
  • Carlos Santana can play the hell out of that bat. (32HR)
  • Can Francisco Lindor teach Yasiel Puig to channel his enthusiasm? I’m buying in 2020 to find out.
  • Lindor re-validates his 25/20 card.
  • Walker Buehler hands you a 12th Win. Why does it feel like a stink-palm?
  • Cody Bellinger breaks up the band. Goes solo at 44.
  • Joc Pederson gives you a smooth 30 long balls. .242AVG tags along.
  • Have a great Tuesday. Short week. Make it worthwhile.
  • No Fear, Just Fantasy.
