Daily Slivers of the Fantasy Soapbox - Yesterday's Recap

Ellis Canady reviews last night's MLB box scores (9/14) and provides fun opinions on a variety of topics to help fantasy baseball owners with their lineups.

Welcome to the September 15th edition of Daily Slivers of the Fantasy Soapbox.

Discussing baseball is as fun as the game itself. It has a way of bringing people together to share different opinions about the sport we all love. A similar action can be done with fantasy baseball where we not only discuss topics but also look to improve our teams as well as the teams of our fellow fantasy baseball enthusiasts. Everyone has their own perspectives which are not to be cast off as frivolous. They should be used as a method of expanding our own knowledge.

In this article, I review the previous day's boxscores and provide my opinion on a variety of topics. Some will be random, some will be fun, and some will be stat-driven. It's a soapbox so I may rant from time to time as well. So without any further delay, below are my thoughts on September 14th games. Enjoy them. You can even respond with your own thoughts on Twitter @EllisCan2.

Be sure to check all of our fantasy baseball lineup tools and resources:

Daily Musings

  • You did it to yourself, Trevor Bauer. You allowed a HR with only three outs from a win. Who’s complaining about 6.1 IP, 1 ER, 12K?
  • Erik Gonzalez, 2 SB is nice, but where’s the beef? Bring it back
  • Pablo Lopez (7 IP, 1 ER, 6 K) gives one lucky contestant a special prize. Lottery pick is Andrew McCutchen (seventh Jackpot raffle)
  • Three games..then two games. I see the pattern. I bet it’s one game between next HR for Mike Moustakas.
  • He giveth & he taketh away. Kyle Lewis grants a 10th interstellar wish for the good guys. The bad guys will be denied.
  • Jose Marmolejos won’t leave Chad hanging. Sixth vote of confidence.
  • Does anyone make Churros like they used to? Luis Torrens’ first delivery was 336 feet.
  • First all-day exotic Lambo rental wasn’t in Phoenix, it was OAK. Jake Lamb’s 104.3 mph drive was sexy.
  • Just like you don’t waste a delicious SamGyupSal meal, you don’t wast Kwang Hyun Kim’s start. 7 IP, 6 K; 0 run support)
  • Josh Lindblom joins Kim for a pregame Soju shot. 화이팅!!! They both dominate.
  • Christian Yelich I get that you’re slow-playing it, but six strikeouts in one day?! Ok, here’s the plan. You continue with the rope-a-dope. I’ll draft you seventh in 2021 drafts, and we’ll dominate next year.
  • 10 K in 4.2 IP. Corbin Burnes, your temperature's rising..as well as draft stock.
  • Cedric Mullins (six) with another five-finger discount. You’re making this a habit.
  • But we’re the best. "Ok, Mr. Atlanta, here’s your afternoon dose of humbleness.” ~ Orioles.
  • The year of 2020 may be a wreck in relation to baseball. However, it might bring us the departure of the Mets from the Wilpon’s grubby paws. At least mostly.
  • Ryan Mountcastle (five HR), sit Nunez down to discuss a few starts at 1B. Whoa! I never said to buy him an Audemars Piguet.
  • Dinelson Lamet is workin’ the hell out of those two pitches. 7 IP, 1 ER, 11 K.
  • Trent Grisham novel cont: Take exception?! Beau hits a homer off one of the best pitches in history and he’s supposed to solemnly walk around the bases with his hands in his pockets? Watch it…not too long…not too short. Don’t eyeball the pitcher, but don’t just stare at the crowd as though he doesn’t exist. Jog, but not too fast.. not too slow. Touch the plate, but don’t jump on it…and never, ever do the Cha-Cha or Electric Slide across the plate. He was excited & wanted Josephine to be proud of him. She’s real proud, Beau. Celebrate good times. Come on.

  • Red Hots update
  • Josh Bell might have been lost. He’s sent up seven flares. His latest one shot up quick (108 mph max exit velo)
  • DJ Stewart (seventh tater). Everyone knows now. If you read these railings, you can’t say you’re surprised.

  • Endgame
  • Yoshi Hirano (two)
  • Tyler Webb (one)
  • Taylor Rogers gives away a couple of free rides on the merry-go-round.
