Dan Sausville - RotoBaller

22 articles

My name is Dan Sausville, and I am transitioning from a 7 year "career" as a minor league baseball player, to being a sports journalist. I have a passion for the MLB, NBA, and NFL, as well as Pro Boxing, Fantasy Sports, Madden Ultimate Team, and my family. I look forward to using my 20+ years of baseball experience to help bring some insight into the game from a non familiar place, as not many former players end up writing and informing. I have been on 4 championship teams at the pro level, 2 last place teams at the same level, and a year in the middle. I think that my experience with the highs and lows of the game will help me better understand when and why a player or team gets hot, or why they are not, and what makes the players tick. I look forward to sharing this with our audience, and cannot wait to expand my horizons and get in on some NBA talk, as well as some NFL. Until then I will be covering the Dodgers, as well as some misc. baseball chatter.

Deep League Waiver Wire Pickups (AL Edition): Week 18

This article is subtitled the "Yahoo! Sleeper Edition," not because these players are sleepers in Yahoo! formats, but because Yahoo! fantasy owners are entirely sleeping on them unjustly. The first player in this article is one of my hidden gems whom I think can really make an impact the rest of the season, followed by three […]

Deep League Waiver Wire Pickups (AL Edition): Week 11

In this week's installment, I will revisit a couple of sleepers that I touted earlier in the year, as they are still sitting on most waiver wires, and still producing. I will also introduce a couple of young sleeper pitchers flying under the radar as the NL currently has the spotlight when it comes to young […]

Starting Pitchers & Potential June Call-Ups As the MLB Draft has gotten underway, so with it comes the callups that always occur in the big leagues at this time. For this piece, I will showcase 3 promising young arms poised to make an impact in the big leagues sooner, rather than later. Good luck […]

Deep League Waiver Wire Pickups (AL Edition): Week 10

In this week's waiver wire installment, I will bring to your attention some young MLB players who have recently walked into some playing time, are making the most of it, and may be sleepers for deeper leagues like AL-Only formats depending on your league depth. It's important for us to constantly be looking to improve […]

Checking in with the Los Angeles Dodgers: Late May Update

It has been an eventful couple of weeks in Dodgertown, as they got back franchise player Clayton Kershaw, saw their multi million dollar investment (Alex Guerrero) get a piece of his ear bitten off during a minor league contest by one of his own teammates (Miguel Olivo), and watched their bullpen continue to struggle, at […]

Post-Hype Sleeper Waiver Wire Pickups (AL Edition)

Week 9 Waiver Wire Recommendations After a couple of weeks away, I bring you another installment of my deep league waiver wire pickups focusing AL-Only leagues. This week I will focus on a pair of post-hype sleepers, and I take a shot in the dark on someone who was once highly regarded as a […]

Even Without Kershaw The Dodgers Are A Force To Be Reckoned With

Fantasy News and Analysis for the Los Angeles Dodgers The Dodgers are keeping their heads above water while they wait for Clayton Kershaw to return, as well as getting Matt Kemp back up to speed. Some players have really stepped up to put the Dodgers at 15-12 as of May 1st, 1 game behind […]

AL-Only Leagues: Waiver Wire Pickups for Week 2

Clayton Kershaw Will be Injured a Month at Least

Here is your daily dose of Dodgers news and analysis for 4/1...   Kershaw Injured at Least a Month, maybe more... It looks like Clayton Kershaw will not throw another in-game pitch in the month of April, and this injury may be more serious than Kershaw or the Dodgers first let on. The Dodgers have made a […]

MLB Opening Day News & Notes for Fantasy GMs

Opening Day lived up to all its expectations, as it does every year. We had multiple extra-inning games, a few dramatic late-inning home runs, some impressive pitching performances by some of the games top young arms, and of course Mike Trout did something incredible. Buster Posey hit a mammoth game-winning bomb in the ninth inning […]

Fantasy Baseball Analysis: Checking in with the Dodgers

Fantasy Baseball Analysis: Checking in with the Dodgers After an eventful first week of sometimes real, and sometimes not real baseball games, some questions about the club have been answered, and some new ones have arisen. The team should be looking at a 3-0 start, but a blow up by setup man Brian Wilson on […]

3 Undervalued Second Basemen: Sleepers for 2014

3 Second Base Sleepers for Fantasy Baseball Drafts I have been tasked with deciphering which second basemen currently being drafted outside of the top 10 rounds (ADP over 120) will deliver the statistics needed to help you win your fantasy league this year. The Matt Kemp Recovery: 2014 Comeback Player Of The Year?

[iframe src="http://m.mlb.com/shared/video/embed/embed.html?content_id=31437193&topic_id=6479266" height="200" width="100%"]   Matt Kemp's Comeback Many intelligent people might contend that this tweet from the Dodgers was just organizational talk to create hype around a player in whom they are heavily invested in. Matt Kemp has let down their fans mightily over the last two seasons, but the team took L.A. by […]

3 Up, 3 Down: 2014 Spring Training Review

Although most will tell you that spring statistics should be taken with a grain of salt, it is impossible to ignore it when someone goes on a tear over the course of 40-80 at bats. Remember that a lot of owners benefited from spotting Domonic Brown's effectiveness last spring, parlaying it into some late-round magic […]
