Joey Lucchesi Resumes Throwing

New York Mets left-hander Joey Lucchesi (elbow), who had Tommy John surgery in June, began throwing for the first time on Tuesday since his operation. The 28-year-old will likely miss all of the 2022 season. When he returns in 2023, he'll have two years of team control remaining, which is the main reason why the Mets tendered him a contract on Tuesday. In 11 appearances (eight starts) in his first season for the Mets before he had elbow reconstruction, Lucchesi had a 4.46 ERA, 3.40 FIP, 1.17 WHIP, 41 strikeouts and 11 walks in 38 1/3 innings pitched.
